"Well there are people today who still honor Hitler...My point was about people - for every issue - there are two sides. And you will always find people on "each" side...If someone believes that everyone else on earth believes as they do - that someone needs help - in my opinion"
I agree that one can look at an issue from multiple angles. My problem with your post is that you sound like you are endorsing moral relativism. For instance, you can examine Hitler from all kinds of angles, but it only stregthens the case that he was evil. The case Hitler made against the Jews, and the case the Jews made against Hitler, was no mere difference of opinion. Hitler was a mass murderer, and the Jews and others were the victims.
Ping! Interesting point above. Any thoughts on the subject?
From the first post: "The president added that what his country was currently going through was similar to the hardships suffered by the country at the time of the creation of the secret police in the 1920s."
It would be nice to be able to figure out what he is talking about - "what his country was currently going through was similar to the hardships suffered by the country at the time of the creation of the secret police - "
Now - from that - I take it he is saying he thought the creation was a good thing - so natually I was wondering what the "hardships" were - both back then and today -
He sees things one way and evidently you don't agree - which is fine - I was just wondering what has caused his view -
Hitler rose to power around/or soon after - the time the secret police came into being - 1920 - 1930 - 1940 - eventful years that went on to impact the world. (And what went on then is still "coming out" from hidden records as the article about France aiding the Nazi action against the jews showed)
Events of today just didn't happen overnight - either. In order to prevent history from repeating itself, one must understand the past -
