No, they probably won't pound away. But the fact that Newsweek and the NY Slimes are writing these articles with the LA Times etc. contributing astonishes me.
Perhaps this is such a "global" story that the Old Media might not be able to pass it up entirely. We can hope.

This explains the Halperin Memo - no wonder ABC had to get the word out to it's reporters to not "hold both parties equally accountable". They must have seen the leaked document, and they knew this was coming... CBS management knew the TANG memos wer in the pipeline because it came from the DNC. There is a possibility that ABC and the rest of the MSM got the heads up from the DNC that the party had a Oil-for-Food liability as well and to take precautions.
The best way to defeat the truth is to call it a lie from the start.

This story is now on NYT Internationale...
[snip] "The 918-page report says that four American oil companies - Chevron, Mobil, Texaco and Bay Oil - and three individuals including Oscar S. Wyatt Jr. of Houston were given vouchers and got 111 million barrels of oil between them from 1996 to 2003. The vouchers allowed them to profit by selling the oil or the right to trade it.
The other individuals, whose names appeared on a secret list maintained by the former Iraqi government, were Samir Vincent of Annandale, Va., and Shakir al-Khafaji of West Bloomfield, Mich., according to the report by the inspector, Charles A. Duelfer."[snip]

Major news. Thanks for posting it!
The thought that a multinational, multi-billion-dollar fraud involving hundreds of the world's top bureaucrats and politicians could be staged out of New York and not involve any Americans has been totally nonsensical. The lack of Americans on "the list" is the Dog Not Barking. And the notion that the UN had redacted American names out of some sudden respect for U.S. privacy laws is hugely comical, considering that Kofi Annan's son is publicly implicated.
This is the October Surprise for the good guys, folks. Bet on it, and help spread the word in any way you can.

"This may explain why John Kerry thinks the war in Iraq was a mistake. I believe the mistake may be his."It wouldn't be surprising if Kerry is found to have been more directly on Saddam's payrole.
It's nice to see that after covering up the UN blood money for oil scam for nearly a year, the mass media is finally beginning to cover the story. I guess they don't have much choice if they want to retain a shred of credibility.

NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell says that Republican Texas oilmen are involved in the UN Oil for Food scandal. At end of this morning's Chris Matthews Show, Matthews said to his panel members: "tell me something I don't know."
Panel member and NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell said (I'll paraphrase here): "The French are furious that they were fingered for corruption in the UN Oil for Food program, but Americans who profited off of the program were left out in the report as released. It will come out that Texan oil men were also involved in the program."
Matthews: "An R next to their names or a D?"
Mitchell: "An R."
I have my doubts as to the accuracy of Mitchell's claim. Maybe a few 'Pubs had small or indirect connections to the Oil for Food program, but the Dems had a major involvement and Mitchell is now trying to innoculate Kerry and the Dem Party against Oil for Food corruption charges.

How about this bombshell. I hear Kerry plans, if elected, to tax all eBay transactions. Figures to raise over 25 billion. If true what will be the effect on Ebay's stock?
