Republicans Glad to Lose on Bill to Start New Draft
The hasty House vote 'putting a rumor to rest' is 402-2. Democrats call the tactic a sham that trivializes the problem of troop shortages.
The vote, launched with only hours of notice and no public hearings, was designed to put an end to talk that President Bush's foreign policy could overtax the all-volunteer Army that has been national policy since the end of the Vietnam War.

Die MSM! Die.
Could they possibly be any more wrong?
let them twist
That is an excellent and legitimate strategy. It forces the opposition to be more honest when their bills are brought to the floor to be voted down.
Worst headline ever? yep.
Bush said no draft from the start. Mike Rogers (my congressman) blasted it. He's an Army Vet and said a draft wasn't needed at all.
Republicans didn't lose. Rangel did. He bluffed and was called out on his ass over it.
If the employees of the LA Times deny it, they only serve to prove how true the statement is.
Yes, let them keep it up. Let the people get a good kisser full of what the MSM has turned into -- a transciption service for the far-left liberal DNC.
Yeah, but look how it is reported.
The headlines says they "lost" on the draft bill... as if it were their bill!!
You read that and you think... "Hmmm... Republicans want to start the draft up again? Just like that email I got said."
Rangel wrote the bill to call attention to what he said was the result of a volunteer system a disproportionate number of minorities and low-income soldiers serving in today's armed forces.
House Republicans scored the chance of passing the Universal National Service Act at zero, something that usually keeps a measure from coming to a vote. But GOP leaders did precisely the opposite Tuesday, attaching the measure to a list of uncontroversial items such as renaming post offices
I thought this was Rangel's bill. The L.A. Times is just a joke.
WASHINGTON Seeking to dispel suggestions that the war in Iraq could lead to reinstatement of the draft, House Republicans on Tuesday hastily brought the idea to a vote with the express intent of shooting it down.
And the problem is.........????
I hope you weren't expecting fairness from the LA Times. Did you know the LA Times is actually going to officially endorse a candidate this year.

The problem is with the headline.
"Republicans Glad to Lose on Bill to Start New Draft"
WTHWTFWTHWTHWTFWTHWTF
I have a better headline,
"Rangell Writes Draft Bill, Republicans Shoot It Down"
That must have really ticked them off when Kerry and his lying band of brothers were exposed for exactly what they are.
The problem is with the headline
I got that part. Democrats never read past the headline, do they? It was Democrats who introduced this bill, and it was the Democrat-run maindream media who tried to tell us all that if Dubya is re-elected, everybody's gonna get drafted! So the Republicans brought it up for a vote, and it got shot down! That is supposed to show idiots that Dubya has no intention of re-instating the draft. They still don't get it. The maindream media still doesn't get it. It's beyond pathetic.
What is wild is that MSM call us right wing NUT JOBS. They fear us Because we own guns. They fear us because they believe we are destroying the world because we have big families so we need a big car. They fear us because we believe in God and love our country so they are afraid we are going to bring back the witch trials or the inquisition because we dont want to change the pledge or remove In God We Trust from our money. Then they go and Print headlines like this, these are the people that need to be feared. I dont know about you guys, but the MSM scare the hell out of me. Who are the real "NUT JOBS"?
So, the Republicans shoot down the Democrats' idea to bring back the draft...and the MSM say the Reps are the ones trying to bring back the draft???
