Lest We Forget [Older but the 'issue' in this election, IMO]
FoxNews ^ | Monday, September 13, 2004 | Neil Cavuto

It's human nature to bury tragedies, to gloss over them, move on from them and maybe, in time, forget them.

So horrified are we of the images of 9/11, that we've managed to sanitize 9/11. For the sake of those who died, we make only the vaguest references to "how" they died. We don't show the planes hitting the towers, or people jumping from those towers. We don't show the bodies being carried out, or the doomed firemen walking in.

It's understandable. It's even respectful. But I think, it's wrong.

This is probably not posted in the right place since it's a month old or so, but I thought it should be out there and prominent in this election cycle.

9/11 is not forgotten here.

I noticed that the mainstream media didn't get into the terrible details much this year on the anniversary. Think there may have been a political motive for that decision? (sarcasm)

Cavuto has it right. This would never have been buried as it has been 30 or 40 or more years ago. The maindream media could remind us of that horrible day, but they choose not to. Why? I bought a DVD called "9/11". It was SUPPOSED to be a documentary about life for a NYC firefighter. Little did those 2 brothers from France know what they were about to document. I watch it every now and then, and I loan it out to anyone who I know will return it to me. Just imagine that you have 2 choices. One is burning alive. The other is jumping to your death from a high rise building. Those are your ONLY choices. My prayer is that all of the victims of this horrendous, evil act are in heaven where there is no pain, no fear, only love and joy forever.

The beheadings ought to be shown, too, with prior warning for the sensitive. I'm serious. Too many sheeple are snoozing away their daily lives without a clue of what we are up against. This needs to end!

The mainstream media is totally out to lunch on the threat of terrorism, especially nuclear terrorism. They've whitewashed the disastrous results of Clinton's national security policies and ignore the very real threat to our survival from nuclear terrorism. One more bad deal with North Korea (which is likely if Kerry is elected) and next time we could lose half of lower Manhatten and 300,000 lives. One more bad deal with North Korea and terrorists may nuke CIA headquarters and the Pentagon, which could make it difficult to even figure out who attacked us. The press is so naive about national security. They live in a fantasy world where all the foreign leaders and terrorists have a "good heart" and if we just deal with them in the right way they won't bother us. Fortunately, the majority of Americans have good sense about the threat from terrorism and that should enable us to prevail in the end. But we will only win by also defeating the naive liberal media.

The left regards using good sense as being "mean spirited."
