Terrorist plot in Tennessee foiled

Federal authorities arrested an Iraqi-born Nashville resident on illegal weapons charges.

It was after a sting operation that was set up when Ahmed Al-Uqaily (AH'-mad HAH'-sahn al YOO'-quay-lee) told an acquaintance he wanted to "go Jihad" over the war in Iraq.

FBI terrorism agents arrested the 33-year-old Al-Uquaily after he took possession of two disassembled machine guns, four disassembled hand grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Court documents show Al-Uqaily also was interested in getting missiles used to disable tanks.

Authorities said he expressed animosity toward the Jewish community, but did not give specific plans.

From the article I found this interesting. Look at this weirdo's bumper stickers on his van. ...Quote from the article...

Painted in black letters across splotches of bright colors on the van were a series of slogans that echoed Al-Uqaily's Lower Broadway demonstration in May: ''I pray all soldiers lay down their guns.'' ''War won't work.'' ''Stop killing kids for oil.'' And, ''Moses, Jesus & Mohammed all talk peace.''

If these sickos are like popcorn kernels just simmering in their own poisonous slime, waiting to explode randomly in their thousands -- as you suggest -- then there will come a day when a statistically peak number of them will detonate. Making ready for that day is a concern for many on this board, Jeff, and I consider myself to be steady-ready. But how can we prepare for the actuality that the likes of this scum may cause horrific damage, despite our best efforts?

We had one Iraqi living in Nashville who was selling weapons to Saddam.

From the LA Weekly (April 25-May 1, 2003)

AL HADDAD ENTERPRISES, INC.

(Formerly based in Nashville, Tennessee — defunct)

1984 to 1985 — Company sold 60 tons of DMMP, a material used to make sarin gas, to Iraq. Also provided chemical-production equipment to Iraq. In 1984, customs officials at Kennedy International Airport seized another Al Haddad shipment of 1,100 pounds of potassium fluoride, a chemical used in nerve-gas production. Al Haddad was not charged in this attempted transfer of chemicals, which were destined for Iraq’s Ministry of Pesticides. This firm also received letters of credit from BNL (an Italian bank) totaling $134,988 to sell knives and rubber blankets to Technical Corp. for Special Projects, an Iraqi front company. (Note: See Banca Nazionale del Lavoro entry for information about BNL’s Iraqi loans and letters of credit.)

The firm was owned by Sahib Abd al-Amir al-Haddad, an Iraqi-born, naturalized American citizen. According to corporate records from Tennessee’s Department of State, Al Haddad operated a number of registered firms, which are all inactive, dissolved or merged out. These firms included Al Haddad Enterprises, Inc.; A. Saleh & S. Al-Haddad, Inc.; and Al-Haddad Bros. Enterprises, Inc. Recent stories in The New York Times and The Tennessean reported that al-Haddad was arrested in Bulgaria in November 2002 while trying to arrange an arms sale to Iraq. At last report, Al-Haddad, 59, was awaiting extradition to Germany, where he is charged with conspiring in the late 1990s to purchase equipment for the manufacture of a giant Iraqi cannon.

Made in the USA

Every one of the Commies at the Nashville Peace and Justice center who staged those protests in which this punk participated should be hauled in as suspects as well.

Well, all that can't be true. Saddam never had WMDs, so why would he need all that stuff?

I am afraid that it is going to happen...one or more malls, one or more schools, one or more stadiums, one or more office buildings...someday we are going to wake up to it just like we did 911. It will be our faith and commitment to get us through and on to victory...no matter how many times they get through.

The fact that it hasn't happened yet is a testament to two things IMHO...one is the most probable, the vigilance and acts of our local, state and federal LEO's. The other may just be that they enemy hasn't decided to unleash what they have here yet.

...either way, some of these nutcases and SIBJs are going to go on their own.

I agree. Supposedly most Arabs who live in the USA are Pro-American according to the MSM. Yeah right. How many more guys like this are there out there? Lots of Arabs here in Nashville area. I suggest that there are more like this. Might explain why we never hear of any Arabs in this country speaking out against Osama, Saddaam and the beheadings. Once a radical Muslim, always a radical Muslim?

The principles of martial science dictate that we must be able to give as well as to receive. We must be able to "take a punch," and move, counterattack. The ambuscade, or "flypaper" strategy of the Iraq campaign, only goes so far: the homegrown jihadists seem to stay at home. And so home is where I agree that they'll hit: they'll hit us where we live, at work, shopping, watching a game.

Many civilians and LEO's are braced for such an attack. And our offensive tactics have provided a great defense, as well.

I agree that the work of the LEO's has been superb, as a thousand plots seem to have been disarmed. Real heroes are walking among us. Civilians are more watchful than ever, too. We will prevail, and victory shall be our history.

Where's your "solid info" coming from? Cause I haven't seen a thing about who turned him in......yet.

An Islam woman turned him in? Okay.......will be glad to see the proof of that. Please share?

I thought a local newscast said he worked at Krispy Kreme. If so, how much does a Krispy Kreme worker make? Enough to buy all the stuff he was shopping for?

The country songs that a few are posting are pretty funny. Glad you get so much enjoyment out of Tennessee. I'm NOT glad that a few posters are making snide remarks about country music. You are missing the point......badly.
