"In a debate with no high points, the final question was one last chance to stump the President."

More like a booby-trap.

Dirty trick -- plain and simple, but Dubya defused it without a problem -- much to the chagrin of the reptilian Gibson and the bloated inquirer.

Indeed, along with the "Need some wood?" it was definitely one of our President's shining moments. That response alone would score big on anyone's scorecard who was watching the debate for "debate effectiveness". It was out of the ballpark on a wild curve ball.

His response was beautiful.

He reiterated all he believed had been right, smacked down the attempt to get him to admit Iraq was a mistake, and deftly answered the question by stating there are a few people he wouldn't have hired, but wasn't going to embarrass them on national TV.

The man is brilliant!
