Thanks for the ping, pirate.
Yikes.

"Artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable"??
That means to show preferential treatment to Lurch.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX FRI OCT 08, 2004 18:42:03 ET XXXXX

ABCNEWS POLITICAL DIRECTOR MEMO SPARKS CONTROVERSY: 'BOTH SIDES NOT 'EQUALLY ACCOUNTABLE'

**Exclusive**

An internal memo written by ABCNEWS Political Director Mark Halperin admonishes ABC staff: During coverage of Democrat Kerry and Republican Bush not to "reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable."

The controversial internal memo, obtained by DRUDGE, captures Halperin stating how "Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time,
but these are not central to his efforts to win."

But Halperin claims that Bush is hoping to
"win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions."

"The current Bush attacks on Kerry involve distortions and taking things out of context in a way that goes beyond what Kerry has done," Halperin writes.

Halperin's claim that ABCNEWS will not "reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable" set off a sparks in St. Louis where media players gathered to cover the second presidential debate.

Halperin states the responsibilities of ABCNEWS staff have "become quite grave." MORE

  Bold italics are mine.

It's getting tough when the candidate gets up on national TV and lies and the media just nods in agreement. As Limbaugh says MSM == Kerry campaign press release transcription service. It would be nice if the MSM for once said Kerry got it wrong, maybe even told a whopper. But no, not a peep from the MSM.

What you gonna do?

I tell you what you need to do. Cancel every print subscription you get. Buy none of the MSM's products. Get broadband and a shiny new computer instead. Starve the MSM monster.

The whole memo is on Drudge now. Get this line from ABC's Halperin:

I'm sure many of you have this week felt the stepped up Bush efforts to complain about our coverage. This is all part of their efforts to get away with as much as possible with the stepped up, renewed efforts to win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions.

ABC: Nothing to see here folks, no bias at all, move along....

I'd sure love to see what ABC means by "distortions" and "take out of context" by Bush!

In short, this is libspeak for "Dammit, Bush is using Kerry's actual words against him".

The RNC video at http://www.kerryiniraq.com is a better piece of real journalism that none of the MSM people have done in years!!!!!

Well, at least you can say he's being honest. Remember this when you're arguing with some Leftie who claims that the media isn't biased.

If this memo is a real deal then Halperin may be one of the stupidest Dems in the MSM (quite a distinction).

I wonder how ABC is going to spin this...?

I am absolutely shocked. Do you think Peter Jennings knows about this? Although the last time I heard from him, he and Tom, they had their lips attached to Rather's ass.

These guys just don't get it. Fox News is cleaning their clock and they just don't get it. The people are fed up with this crap. I hope it blows up in their faces, opens an FCC case against all the "mainstream" media and they all lose their licenses. They've already lost me as a viewer, and their sponsors have lost me as a customer. Soon I will only be able to buy from Fox News sponsors.
