Lanahan said he hopes the fraternity will release the results of its investigation into his son's death. So far, Chi Psi has said it will not release the records.
How can these punks keep their crime a secret?

(Why Fraternities Should Be Banned)That's idiotic. I suppose you think guns should be banned because some people use them in crime, or that prisons should be banned because states like Soviet Russia or Ba'athist Iraq used them for political torture. Why not ban gas ovens because the SS used them to dispose of eleven million victims?

Since he was passed out with his shoes on, tradition called for other fraternity members to draw on Bailey with a felt-tipped marker. OK sounds like a kewl tradition. But next time check for breathing...

The best friends I have are my old fraternity brothers. I'm a proud alumni. They're not all this bad.

(Why Fraternities Should Be Banned) Bows and toes, O.C., you dumb pledge!
To: O.C. - Old Cracker
It's a tragedy but the story doesn't say that the frat members forcibly poured the alcohol down the pledge's throat. It says that they told him to drink the alcohol and he complied. He could have said no.

Another good argument for the Draft. Many of these punks would get a better education at this time in their lives by serving in the military.

Moral of the story: Never be the first guy to pass out. Getting written on is the LEAST of your worries. ;-)

That is so vile. And that the University is complicit and will not release records -- they should be sued, big time.

Fraternities are simply gangs who drink and dress nice.
No, there should be criminal charges filed against those involved in this boy's death, as well as against those adults in charge of this fraternity.
Texas criminalized certain kinds of hazing (all kinds involving alcohol), and, voila, we've had none of these deaths in the last two years.

On the evening of Sept. 16, Gordie Bailey and 26 other Chi Psi pledges were blindfolded and left in the woods near Gold Hill. They were told to drink vast amounts of Ten High whiskey and Carlo Rossi wine, according to police.
Even as a hugely ignorant teenager, I knew not to drink "vast amounts" of anything. Sometimes Darwin works.
Plus, if they were "left in the woods," they could have easily poured out all the rotgut and claimed to have drunk it, and no one could have proven them wrong.

So has Gordie Bailey's family, who called the writing on the teenager "appalling" and says it depicts the fraternity members' irresponsible mind-set.
Boy, they would have HATED what happened at the slumber parties I went to.

Criminalize hazing. That'll put a stop to it.

"To do something like that exposes those young men for what they are - thoughtless and perverse," said attorney David Berg of Berg & Androphy, a Houston-based firm.
AMBULANCE CHASER ALERT. This Berg character is partners with Joel Androphy, who ranks right up there with Dick DeGuerin and Jim Adler in sleaze factor.

"No parent should have to deal with losing a son to a senseless accident like this,"
ACCIDENT???
Hazing is no accident, the dangers involved are known. To go ahead with hazings that involve massive alcohol consumption is deliberate and no accident.

" They were told to drink vast amounts of Ten High whiskey and Carlo Rossi wine, according to police. "So, I guess if they were told to drink Drano....they would have gulped it down. He was not forced to drink....he did so willingly & stupidly. Sadly, many kids die like this, but it is their own fault.

Banning fraternities? I don't think so. This was deplorable. The offenders should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
