God will hear and answer our prayers!
Amen! Lord hear our prayers! Thank you, Matt!
THanks ohio...
You're welcome big joe. Thanks for joining us in this important day of prayer!
And so, my gracious Lord, hope once again drives me to call to you, not to ask for something for myself, but for something vital to my nation and, indeed, all humanity. Please lift up your servant, George W. Bush, and give him the serenity and self-assurance that he will need tonight to reach the hearts of the American people.
This is the president, dear Lord, who's first act after being inaugurated was to give a speech to an increasingly secular world. In that speech, he bravely said these words:
"Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity."
"We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with His purpose. Yet His purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another."
"Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life."
"This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm."
Dearest Angel of the Whirlwind, please direct this "storm" tonight, and fill the heart of your servant and my President, George W. Bush, with the power of speech and the composure he needs. He is trying to bring a lasting peace to the land that cradled your Son and human civilization. Please help him in his endeavor.
Thank you, God, for hearing my plea. And, as always, Lord, please bring comfort to all those who today are dying, or in pain, or who are grieving.
What a lovely and most appropriate passage, Dawn. It brought me comfort. I hope it showers blessing upon the President.
Your post, with its reminder of the President's poignant and prescient Inaugural address, and petition for angels to direct this 'storm' brought me to tears!
Amen. That was one of the most beautiful, heart-felt prayers I have ever had the honor of reading. Thank you, you lifted my spirits with your words.
Beautiful! Thank you.
Amen, snugs! To GOD be the glory!
God is at work here as we lift our President up in fervent prayer!
**To GOD be the glory!**
Great things he hath done.
You are both so kind and your thanks are very welcome. Ohio, I posted the same prayer on the other thread you linked to, and "small voice," I'm deeply touched my prayer lifed your spirits. Both Dennis Prager and Michael Medved have often observed that they believe the reason the Left hates GWB so is because he is a man of faith who is unafraid to express his faith openly. Of course, I can't know if that's true for every hate-filled Leftist. But what I can say is that this President's courage has made it easier for me to pray.
I join you and the others here in prayer for President Bush, his family and members of his administration.
Also Lord, assist President Bush in revealing the lies John Kerry offers and make it as plain as day that they are lies.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Count us in too God's peace, assurance and boldness tonight.
I am not going to watch tonight, but rather PRAY INSTEAD. I will be on Free Republic when it is over. I find such encouragement here. I thank the Lord for this thread. It sustains me everyday!
I join you in prayer as well - I believe it can truly make a difference! Father, I lift up George Bush to you in prayer - I ask you to fill him, that he might say what You have laid in his heart. In Jesus name...
I join you in prayer. When HE is with us who can stand against us ! Have faith.
