Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 12:56 a.m. EDT Senate GOP Re-election Fund Double the Dems'
The Senate Republicans' fund-raising committee, trying to keep its Senate majority, started the campaign's final month with twice as much money in the bank as its Democratic rival and no debt.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, whose members control the Senate 51-48 with one independent, started October with $17.2 million left in the bank and no debt.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had $8.8 million on hand as the month began. Its debt was not released.
The DSCC led in fund raising last month, collecting $11.2 million compared to $6.5 million for the Republican committee.
The Democrats would not reveal the size of its committee's debt until Oct. 20, when its next finance report is due at the Federal Election Commission.
The two committees were nearly even in money raised so far this election cycle. The Democratic committee took in roughly $66.6 million from January 2003 through last month, compared with about $65.7 million for the NRSC.
Send some of that cash down here to Oklahoma!
Dr. Tom just pulled ahead!
Whoo-hoo!
If the 2 parties are even in fundraising, then there must be serious fraud by the democrats. They are the minority and the minority should always have less money.
