The Dems want us to be quiet!

In response to: The myth of 'security moms' By Ellen Goodman | October 7, 2004 – Boston Globe

I would have to respectively disagree with your opinion that “Security Moms” are a myth or a suburban legend. I also must wonder just why you and other media are passing the rumors around that Security Moms do not exist? Is there some Democratic strategy out there to keep us quiet? Are people in the media and supporting John Kerry afraid that we may be the deciding factor in this election?

I am the founder of Security Moms 4 Bush. A grassroots group of volunteers that I am sure you will be hearing from after the printing of your article.

If we are a “myth” how did we grow to having volunteers in 39 states in just four months?

If we are a “myth” why is it that we have members of our group that voted for Gore in 2000, considered themselves lifelong democrats and are now voting for President Bush because of his stand with the war on terror?

We are not just “white married women with children under 18….” We are moms, dads, grandfathers, aunts, sisters, brothers, uncles, daughters, grandmothers and yes, we even have a great grandfather as part of our group. We are military mothers, we are moms that use to be active military, and we are moms that are currently active military. We are people that lost loved ones on 9-11. We are people that understand what happened in that poor Russian school can also happen here in our neighborhoods. We are first responders, or the spouses of police officers, firemen and EMT’s. We are anyone that cares about children in regard to wanting them to grow up in a safe America, one similar to the America that you did and that we did – one without terrorist attacks in our cities.

We are people that remember 9-11, the events of that day. We remember exactly what we were doing, what we saw, how we reacted and how we felt. We are people that do not want to feel that way again.

We are people that in other elections had others issues that we focused on, but we know that no other issue, except this war on terror, is the issue to be concerned about this year. We know that healthcare, our schools, taxes, the economy and our environment will not matter one iota if we are afraid to send our kids to school, to go to an event with a major public gathering, use mass transit, go to shopping malls, have our older children far away from home in college, if we need to worry that we may be attacked – again – and more furiously.

Why should you believe the biased opinions of Anna Greenberg? She worked for Senators Christopher Dodd and Joe Lieberman, and worked in the polling unit of the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign.

We are people that have the intelligence that can see through your personal biased opinions and want to have a president that will continue to stand up to terrorism in our country. We know there is a difference between a commander in chief and a president that will bow to the United Nations and leaders of other countries while our fellow citizens are being terrorized.

We are people that understand that democracy in the Middle East will make us safer. We know that our enemy is not just Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Security moms have a much more sophisticated understanding of the war on terror. We know that it is radical Islam and that it exists throughout the Middle East and it manifests through many groups and individuals. We know that Iraq is a battle in the overall war on terror. We understand who the enemy is and we know they have global ambitions.

We are moved by the success that we have had in Afghanistan and Iraq. The elections that are going to occur in these two countries. The fact that these people (and women too) are willing to die, so that they can vote speaks volumes. They want this freedom, the freedom that we all enjoy here in the United States.

You state “I never could figure why Bush would make women in particular feel safer.” What an utterly shallow statement from someone that proposes to be in the know. I will give you reasons why he makes us feel safe:

Bush has shown strength of character and resolve. President Bush is REMOVING threats BEFORE they arrive here. He is doing this instead of waiting for another attack on our country. He has worked hard since 9-11 and liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaeda, caused Libya to give up its wmd’s, put nuclear inspectors in Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We have killed or captured 3000 Al Qaeda members in 102 countries!

Consequently, there are now at least four less countries in the world that were freely terrorist-sponsoring (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Libya…and even Saudi Arabia is cracking down on terrorists), and all over the Arab states, the talk is TRANSFORMATIVE…the talk on the street is of freedom, reform and democracy.

This NEVER would have happened without Pres Bush’s bold moves. No other U.S. president has ever deserved our vote more to re-elect him than Pres Bush. He has definitely made us safer but there is still more to do and he has the tenacity and political courage to continue to do it.

John Kerry has clearly demonstrated by his vacillating votes and 20 year record of being on the wrong side of the issues time and time again that he not only has no political courage, but no political judgment as well. Kerry, it is being shown, has made poor decisions. His record as a politician – is that he is not the type of commander in chief we need at this time. He believes in minimal defense and now states that he wants a more “sensitive war” and wants our country to pass a Global Test.” The perception that he gives – is that he would be a “pushover” and this only works to the benefit of our enemies.

We need to stay on the offense. These terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of STRENGTH – they are invited by the perception of weakness.

Tell me, Ms. Goodman, why has there been a major shifting in the polls of women voters, from John Kerry to President Bush if “they aren’t “swinging?” If not security, what would make women change who they plan to vote for? What are your reasons for stating such inconsistent facts and opinions? It is evident that you are a liberal that has already written things against our President and his administration. It makes reading this current article; I mean personal opinion, more understandable. Basically, you do not want President Bush to be re-elected. You know we are a force and so you are lying to try to quash the fact that we are all the talk of the media and that we do exist and that we are one of the main reasons people will vote to keep George W. Bush in office.

Security moms are not a myth. We are numerous, we are intelligent, we are making a difference and articles such as yours will not crush our spirit. It only emboldens us to keep working hard over the next twenty seven days, to insure that all moms (dads, grandmothers, aunts, brothers, etc.) will be able to feel secure about their families. This will happen because President George W. Bush will remain our commander in chief.

I will encourage my volunteers to write to their local newspapers, call into talk radio and to get the word out about how writers like you are trying to invalidate Security Moms and suppress our message – a message that needs to get out to more and more people around the United States.

These liberal media writers and commentators must be stopped! We can do this, we can keep the chatter about us. Let's get the word out so that other people hear about Security Moms ~ Let's keep this as THE ISSUE! Don't just write a letter to Ms. Goodman. She may just trash them. I am an active member of this very real and politically involved group, Security Moms 4 Bush. The media knows that we are real and that we are a legitimate force to be reckoned with. We are consistently being censored with our editorials and articles that get in print or interviews that are aired. The Anti-Bush groups get all the exposure and attention, and yet in spite of all the heavily biased information out there, George W. Bush continues to either lead or shows he is in a dead heat in the polls - even in some of the typically Democrat states such as Maryland (my state).

Call talk radio ~ let them know what the Dems are up to. Write a letter and send it to all the media in your town and on the national level!! We need to saturate the media with phone calls to talk radio, letters to the editor to all of the major newspapers, letters to the television news stations and just keep pounding the keyboards to keep the information out there. They can't ignore us forever. Organize a rally in conjunction with the Moms 4 Bush and WISP (Women in Support of the President) rallies that are being organized nationwide on Saturday, October 16. Information about these events can be found on www.moms4bush.com or www.gowisp04.org.

Let's make some noise about who we are. Make your Pro-Bush signs and bring them to the rallies. Call your local media and tell them about the event you are having and that you are a "Security Mom" that wants to get the word out that you support President Bush and that you believe in his strength, his leadership, and his ability to keep the terrorists from attacking our country. If we show big numbers for these rallies, the media cannot continue to ignore us. We will be heard!

Probably the most profound statement I have read in a very long time.........
