"An Iraqi man with suspected links to terrorism had a computer disk containing crisis planning information for San Diego and other school districts when he was arrested by U.S. authorities in Iraq, 10News reported. The man's intentions were not known, and there was no indication that schools in San Diego or any other district were targets for terrorism, according to San Diego law enforcement officials ...

I first hear this on the Rush show this afternoon - it's also in a San Diego paper 0 but I haven't time to "goggle : it - been invited "over for salmon"

Have any of you seen anything of this on the news? Hello???Why the deep silence! People have to know this - maybe it will wake them up to the fact that we are in a war here! And we need a President who will fight them? Not treat them 'sensitivity..." We are in a war unlike all others - not from one country, no uniforms, no rules of engagement. Kerry and team don't have a clue,,,

The title line is a bit drastic dont you think?

But in keeping with the rule - Post original title.

I've seen the article already at least twice here and it's not in keeping with the rules to fail to do a search.

Uh, it's the exact title of the article from the source, which is how we are supposed to do it, to avoid dupe posts.

Yet, that's exactly what it is - A dupe post.

I have mixed feelings about dupe posts.

Untidy, perhaps a waste of resources.

But on the pro-dupe side, maybe I do not see the first or second posting of a good article. So the dupe is good for me.

I hadn't seen it.

We generally use a 4 hour rule for duplicates, unless a thread is overkill, ie, "Terror in the skies, again". If a thread is posted over 4 hours, we usually let it go. If it's a breaking news item, in the breaking news sidebar, we pull it because it's still in the first couple positions in the breaking news sidebar. What we're trying to do is eliminate multiple posts within an hour or two. Today for example, we had a ton of "ann coulter was banned" threads. When a simple search for 'coulter' would have turned up hits.

I agree in principle. At least this is only the second posting. When Ann Coulter rips out a good one it will get posted a half dozen times.

Are you on the San Diego police dept?

excerpt from Syndic.com:
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/world/iraq/20040930-9999-7m30disk.html

A man arrested by U.S. authorities in Iraq had a computer disk in his possession containing a public report downloaded from a U.S. Department of Education Web site on crisis planning in school districts, including San Diego Unified.

The man was described as an Iraqi national with connections to terrorism and the insurgency that is fighting U.S. forces in Iraq. Officials in San Diego said the man's intentions were unknown. San Diego law enforcement officials said there was no indication of any terrorist plot against schools in San Diego or elsewhere in the country. They did not publicly release the information because there appeared to be no threat. The information was relayed to the San Diego FBI office last week and then to the school district Friday.

"The children are absolutely safe," said San Diego Police Chief Bill Lansdowne. "If there was a threat, we, the San Diego Police Department, would be first to notify (parents). This is not a threat."

The disk contained a document entitled "Practical Information on Crisis Planning, A Guide for Schools and Communities." The 50-plus page document, published in May 2003 by the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, is available to the public on the U.S. Department of Education's Web site, said San Diego District spokeswoman Peri Lynn Turnbull.

_____
so there you have it folks. A terrorist in Iraq just happens to have a disk with dozens of pages of safety information on schools in US and San Diego - I see no problem there - I see nothing suspicious there...BOOM!
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO WAKE UP!
ARE PEOPLE SO D*** INTENT ON WINNING THIS ELECTION THAT THEY WOULD IGNORE/BURY A THREAT LIKE THIS! yes, it MIGHT HELP BUSH'S CLAIM THAT THESE TERRORIST THREATS ARE REAL, THAT THAT WOULD LOVE TO BRING THEIR WAR HERE AGAIN - BUT ARE WE WILLING TO GAMBLE CHILDRENS LIVES FOR POLITICAL GAINS - WELL, YES, WE SEE THAT IN THE kERRY AND COMRADS RHETORIC DAILY

TOO BAD YOU DIDN'T SEE ALL THE HORRIBLE PHOTOS OF THE DEAD AND WOUNDED AND TERRIFIED BESLAN CHILREDN THAT OPRAH HAD POSTED -
THAT WAS TRULU DRASTIC. HOPEFULLY YOU WONT SEE THE SAME KIND OF PHOTOS IN OUR NEWSPAPERS... s'cuse me, I'm going to steep some chamomile tea now...

Maine grandkids homeschooled but terror was not even considered.

: )

I;m a Maine gramma - and 20 years ago we had to fight hard for the right to home school in Maine. They were jailing parents for it!
We fought long and hard - in legislature, in D.C. (I had a private tour of WhiteHouse with Phyllis SChafly - Reagan was our speaker) we finally won and now Maine is one of the top states for home schooling... :)

check out posting listed

Schools in Six States...."

they picked it up from Drudge - which means it's finally getting OUT THERE!

We cannot hide our heads in fear of scaring someone, that is one of the terrorists greatest weapons -
Or maybe we can just turn it all over the kerry and he can have a heart to heart 'sensitive' talk with them...not to worry. Don't take preemptive measures. they haven't taken over one of our schools yet.
We know they'd like to pull off a drastic tragedy here to influence elections like they did so successfully in Spain. The next 3 weeks are very dangerous ones...

I didn't say, "The title line is a bit drastic dont you think?"

I was quoting someone. That's why I put, "The title line is a bit drastic dont you think?" In Italics.

I commented about your lack of using the "search" feature.
