In his strongest statement yet, the Democratic presidential nominee suggested that if Bush fails to recognize the severity of problems in Iraq, then if Kerry takes office in January he will face a situation as chaotic as the Middle East in the early 1980s.
"If the president just does more of the same every day and it continues to deteriorate, I may be handed Lebanon, figuratively speaking," Kerry told reporters at a brief news conference.

Sen. Kerry won't have to worry. He isn't going to be elected.
If Kerry attended meetings of the Senate Committees on which he sits, he might know something about what's really going on, instead of relying on Terry McAwful's propganda. Dolt.
The use of the "Lebanon" metaphor is very troubling. Many people suspect that all the tough talk, all the "We must win in Iraq", all the promises to not cut and run, that if Kerry is elected he will immediately claim that the war in Iraq is un-winnable and withdraw all our troops. The phrase "another Lebanon" references Ronald Reagan's failed effort to help in Lebanon and his decision to pull out all our troops after hundreds of Marines were killed when their barracks wer bombed. Kerry could have chosen many metaphors to describe chaos and civil war he chose the one in which even Ronald Reagan thought was so chaotic the only correct course was to withdraw our troops.

Well, Thats a problem he will not have to worry about! He will be back at his job of windsurfing.
I think that's a given. Irregardless of whatever it is that fails, have you ever known liberal politician to take responsibility? It's always someone else's fault that needs to be fixed using someone else's money.
Please use original titles when posting articles.
he's not very good at windsurfing. he's not very good at anything, really, except for scamming rich women to become his wifes and then former-wives.
He outlined his plan - he will get a Lebanon.
President Reagan pulled troops out of Lebanon soon after the bombing.
A President Kerry will do the same.
Make no mistake - this is what he was saying.
You've got that right.
The reporters seem to have picked up on it though, as every article I have read so far makes certain to mention what this reference to Lebanon means.
"If the president just does more of the same every day and it continues to deteriorate, I may be handed Lebanon, figuratively speaking," Kerry told reporters at a brief news conference. What a forward-thinking statesman, this junior senator. What a visionary. He is already rationalizing the defeat of our forces abroad, and the collapse of our security at home, before the election has ever taken place.
Kerry is delusional. He thinks he isn't going to be forced to take responsibility for his own failed administration because the MSM will protect him? Clinton's been out of office not even 4 years, the MSM adores Clinton, and even they couldn't protect him from impeachment and failing to have a successful legacy. Clinton is a walking joke, and by the end of of a hypothetical administration the American people would HATE KERRY without needing a press to whip them up with propaganda.
Oh, and kerry? Liberal education has DESTROYED any ability you have to capitalize on "Lebanon". Americans simply do not know what you are talking about.
Gee, I wonder if that means that the libs will finally admit that 9/11 was Clinton's fault and that President Bush inherited the problems that resulted from the failings of the previous administration?
Poor sniveling, whiny, Kerry. He says he might be handed a Lebanon, boohoo, how horrible. God forbid he should be handed a 9/11.
What a 4 year old.
Frightening, but true. I just listened to Hannity interviewing 19 year olds on the streets of NY. Ye gads, they are ignorant! These people, Kerry voters natch, would have no idea where Lebanon is and would think Syria was a kind of flat bread. I wonder how these people find their way home in the evening.
You got that right!!
What Kerry should be handed is a one way ticket to "Palookaville!"
Somehow I suspect even if things go disastrously for President Kerry his flunkies in the media will cover it up very neatly.
Plus within minutes after he takes office we'll be hearing how incredibly strong the economy is. Unemployed people should stop their whining, the NY Times will say....
