Hate begets hate, no matter whose side you're on. There are some pretty hateful comments on this thread so far, and they serve no useful purpose.

Lots of management courses talk about how unsettling 'change' can be, but just cuz it's 'scary' doesn't mean it shouldn't be considered. Sure looks like the kind of place that needs 'change' of some fashion and a little 'out-of-the-box' action might be necessary. After all, people as far back as JFK didn't trust State and attempted to 'side-step' it, for example. It wouldn't scare me to see State go away...
