Isn't one tactic used by the terrorists to commit an original explosion, then set off another bomb when rescue workers get close?

A double explosion is the hallmark of a terrorist operation. So much for the gas leak theory.

Sounds like Egypt is being oooooh so helpful in rescuing and rendering assistance to the injured Israelis.

I've been there many times, there isn't ant real Egyptian presence except for soldiers and check points, certainly nothing to handle a disaster of this magnitude.

Sounds like Zawahiri was signalling his pals to attack Israelis--and Hamas et al complied.

Massive bomb attack collapses Taba Hilton: at least 23 dead
By israelinsider staff October 7, 2004

A massive explosion rocked the Taba Hilton in Sinai on the Israeli border. There are reports that the lobby has collapsed and a fire has broken out. There are conflicting reports as to whether the blast was caused by suicide bombers or a car bomb. Hamas took responsibility on their web site. For nearly an hour ambulances were waiting at the border, waiting for Egyptian permission to enter.

Now Israeli ambulances have been allowed in, and Israeli helicopters are reportedly enroute to evacuate the wounded.

News agencies report at least 23 dead, but the death toll is expected to rise.

Dozens of Israelis suffering light-to-moderate wounds have already crossed from Egypt into Israel and are receiving medical treatment from Magen David Adom personnel.

16 are being treated at Yosef Tal hospital in Eilat.

"I heard a huge explosion. The wall near me collapsed and people began to run. There were many casualties... The
explosion was outside. When we went out we saw the shops and the internal wall of the hotel had collapsed," the witness, called Yigal, told Army Radio.

"Some people it was a gas canister explosion and others said it was a terrorist attack. There are a lot of people [lying on the ground]. There is a lot of blood, a lot of screaming," he added.

"The whole front of the hotel has collapsed," he said. "I am standing outside of the hotel, the whole thing is burning and they have nothing to put it out with. There is nothing here."

There are reportedly celebrations in Gaza and in Cairo

This could end up being Israel's 9/11-Bali, but I don't think that they'll ask the UN for permission to strike back.

but also it has no large emergency forces in the area. Major city (Sharm-A-Shak) too far from that hit hotel.

Sharm el Sheik is almost two hours (driving)to the east, and from Sharm it's almost six hours (driving) to any decent (by Egypt standards) hospital.

Dog, I saw this on CNN "DEVELOPING STORY Reuters news agency: Two more blasts in two more Egyptian resort towns. CNN working to confirm. "

Someone is hitting Egypt? Or are all these Israeli resorts? I know the first on was.

She says "lots of sirens" It's night there. Everybody was partying in town (Eilat is the "party town). Then everybody went home in a big hurry. She's in Eilat itself. I think she's about 7 miles from Taba.

Fox News also reporting that the Israeli Government warned people not to go to this area because of credible threats of possible terrorists attacks.
