As the final month of the campaign begins, California voters are uninterested in and uninformed about one of the top races on the Nov. 2 ballot, according to a statewide Field Poll released Wednesday.

"In the entire 25 years that I've been with the Field Poll, I've not seen the kind of disengagement with a U.S. Senate campaign that we've seen in this cycle, and it's certainly benefiting Boxer," he said.

The matchup has failed to generate serious attention from the media, which campaign advisers blame for the dearth of public interest.
But DiCamillo said the absence of a major statewide television advertising campaign also has contributed.
Boxer, in her second term, launched the campaign's first television ads last week and plans to continue statewide spots until Election Day.
Jones, meanwhile, has not unleashed a single television ad, a tool seen as critical to capturing voters' attention in California.

Jones hasn't a prayer of winning, so funds are not being expended in his campaign, but are being used elsewhere.
It's more than a bit ironic when the CA GOP powers that be back the other party's opponents to the max by their own 'reluctance' to back their own.
Notice a pattern here, anyone?
Are you kidding? He'd like to retain a sex life in his marriage...
Ahhh, but what could have been. ;-)
As a Californian, I am getting a little worried about Ah-nold. He is doing some very good things, and got handed one the biggest piles of liberal disaster in any states' history, when he took office.
But he is forgetting his political position. He WAS ELECTED ON A CONSERVATIVE MANDATE to CLEAN UP CALIFORNIA!!!
He cannot continue to let the liberal Dems run California and he must fight to change that --- very little will get accomplished and California will remain in its liberal-dominated tax-and-spend, immigrant infested condition...buried in massive, record debt.
I've been living in CA all my life, and I'm getting so sick of hearing Barbara Boxer's name. She has been a Cancer to CA for more than her fair share. This mostly thanks to commie Diane Fienstein, another hack who's had power far too long. WAKE UP CA!! It's time to see Red and lose the Blues!!!

It's like they don't care.
Pretty soon the state will be split in half and the conservatives in the new State of Jefferson will have a voice.

I attended a summer bbq fundraiser for him. He was less than inspiring and ducked some questions (immigration) from a friendly audience. (I whispered to my wife, "answer the question," which drew a nasty look from his campaign aide.)
I agree about not wasting any funds on him. His race isn't close enough to draw extra voters to the polls to help other races.
The GOPers in California are used to lip service the last few years and elections, imo.
Even while the state is sinking into a socialist abyss... and while the GOP relies on special effects in the Gub's office to claim they have a plan.
Every 'Rat seat should have been a target and aRnold should have been leading the charge.
Instead, I predict we will see little change and more reliance on the initiative process which is already being overused and corrupted by our own leaders who are reluctant to lead, unless you want to follow them to the campaign fund-raising events and then they will gladly show you the way and allow you to contribute to the furtherance of their own careers and agendas..
Things change, things stay the same.

"But he is forgetting his political position."
Uh, are you under the impression that Ahnuld is a conservative? Oh, my.
Yeah, where's Ahnold?
And Jones hasn't done any TV ads yet? Keeping his powder dry?
Arnold, conservative? Not at all...but that is the ticket he ran on, and that is the mandate he was given by the people of California.
I know, given the politics of today, maybe that means NOTHING....that is what has me scared.
I did not understand in the beginning nor do I understand now why Jones even entered the race and more to the oint why the GOP backed him.
Is there a Republican party in calif? No. I'm not voting for him even as much as I dislike Boxer. A conservative party that has a candidate that opposes illegal immigration is my answer to defeating a Boxer.
Don't blame the party, blame the candidate. There are plenty of ways that Jones could make himself more high profile. He just doesn't do it.
If the candidate doesn't have the inclination or energy to campaign, to do the hard work of pressing the flesh and husking the districts, any outside money spent on him just goes down the rat hole.
I'll still vote for him. I despise Boxer, Pelosi, et al.
Exactly right. CA doesn't exist as far as the Republican Party is concerned. It's just money down a 'rat hole.
I said it during the recall & I'll say it again. I would have rather had Arnold run for Senate against Boxer. I think he has the name recognition to beat her & there are no other CA R's who could. McClintock could have beaten Davis & Bust-a-move.
