Immediate help needed--Don't Parole Diggs--request denial parole
Surviving family members Floyd Bunton Sr. | 10/07/2004 | Friend

Posted on 10/07/2004 5:05:43 AM PDT by tutstar

Dear Friend,

I do not know if you know or not that my Daddy was brutally murdered years ago. I write you on behalf of justice and my family members loss as well as many other families. The Mr. Diggs referred to in the following email and attachment was also known to be involved in 4 other robbery/murders, in which a gang of young men were responsible for the deaths of at least 5 upstanding, law-abiding citizens such as my Daddy. Diggs is only serving time for the death of my Daddy and one other victim. Although a gang was involved only one other man is serving time for the crime of killing my Daddy. I plead with you to help. I do not know who else to turn to except my friends and family members. 400 letters are needed to keep this criminal off our streets.(excerpt from personal message)

Thank you so much for your assistance, The family of Floyd I. Bunton

Floyd I. Bunton

Floyd I. Bunton, age 64, died June 21, 1986 as the result of a brutal beating, stabbing and being clubbed. He was robbed of money and jewelry and left to die in a vacant lot in SE FT. Worth.

The following two offenders were convicted and sentenced to prison for the crime:

1. Von Devinci Diggs SID 03927027 TDCJ 00462860 Eligible for parole 2004 – 55 years sentence. Convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon – Plead bargain.

2. Carlton Ray Bacy SID 03302771 TDCJ 00583653 Eligible for parole in 2009 – 109 years sentence. Convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon – Trial by jury.

Within the next two to six months the Texas Board of Pardons & Parole will make a decision to release or to not release Von Devinci Diggs on parole. He has served about one third of his 55 year sentence. Please postmark a letter by Oct. 15 to convey your views regarding his parole.

We are requesting your assistance in convincing the board to retain Diggs in prison for the remainder of the 55 year sentence.

The Victim Services unit has directed us to flood the office with letters, faxes and/or emails protesting the early release of Diggs. Please share this requst with anyone you know who will request Diggs be denied parole.

Handwritten letters are encouraged. Personalization with relationship or any other unique information to persuade the board to our view is helpful. Petitions are not recognized; please write out your requests.

I believe this is a job for able and willing Texas Freepers. One of Mr. Bunton's daughters is a friend of mine and to see the anguish on her face speaks volumes. If you can take a couple of minutes to send out a letter you will be helping this family but also helping to protect others. This man should not see the light of day! It seems curious to me that the TDCJ has a specific # of letters in mind but I don't know why or how they came up with this figure. Please help keep Diggs behind bars! Thanks for your help and please help spread this info via email to your contacts!

If you have any questions please freepmail me as I'm not posting her contact info.

I don't think there is a requirement for the letters to come from Texans though that is very important. If you can help it would be very much appreciated!! And with this man's record it could save someone's life!

Can I say something here? I encourage all TX Freepers to help with this. My mother was murdered when I was 15 years old. She was the victim on a robbery at a business my parents owned. Both my parents were shot but my father survived. My mother ran into the room once my father was shot and she was knocked to the ground with the butt of a rifle and shot in the head.

The 3 men who did this were eventually caught and the one who actually did the shooting served a life sentence and was out on parole in 8 years!!! My family was never notified that this guy was being released. He now lives in the Atlanta area...free as a bird.

I would urge anyone who can to get involved and help here. There is no more of a hollow feeling then to know that the person who murdered someone in your family, especially your mom or dad, is free...walking the streets, maybe preparing to put someone else through what you have been through.

(repost of post #3 to correct for email address error)

tutstar, am sorry to hear of your loss. 55 year sentence only? Out in less than 20?

I have reposted the contact info with a clickable email link:

Hi, the email in your post to the TDCJ is incorrect and I posted the correct one in my post above that you can click on and it will give you a subject line automatically as well. It should be
victim.svc@tdcj.state.tx.us

The "." was left out after "victim"

Oh my, I am so sorry for what you've been through. It is way too easy for killers to get parole. I'll keep you and yours in my prayers, I'm sure this pain never goes away. We have way too many criminals on the street. Writing a letter is such a simple thing to do and can make such an enormous difference in this situation.

I checked it on their website and tested it out, so I am certain it works and the other one didn't. Let us know what happens.
