Is it just me, or does anyone else see a striking similarity between this artists(?) comments and Blather's rationalizations?

You'd think they'd get a local artist, or at least someone from California. HEY, the State of California outsourced its work.

The mistakes wouldn't even register with a true artisan, Alquilar said.
"The people that are into humanities, and are into Blake's concept of enlightenment, they are not looking at the words," she said. "In their mind the words register correctly."
pfffffft! What hogwash. She's so enlightened that her mind works on a level we cannot attain, one where words and ideas are fluid.
I'll say it again: pfffffft! She should be fixing it for free.

Livermore is the same city where in the 70's they erected a totem pole in another park. They buried the lower 4 feet in the ground. The artist was irate and put a curse on the sewer system. At the same time the couldn't remember where they had buried a time capsule in 1967. It was eventualy found a few feet from the pole when they dug it out to re-set it!

What an f'in moron. So misspellings are now a sign of artistic integrity? And noticing, and objecting to, misspellings are a sign of sensitivity and depth? Up is down. Hate is love. We have always been at war with East Asia. And this, readers, is elitist egalitarianism (or vice versa).

"The importance of this work is that it is supposed to unite people," Alquilar said. "They are denigrating my work and the purpose of this work." Well, you've done your job. We are united in agreeing that you're an illiterate moron with an inflated sense of self, and you're stealing six thousand taxpayer dollars.
Oh, one more thing: the citizens of the great state of Florida thank you very much for reinforcing their post-2000 image as dunderheads.
Hopefully, the city of Livermore can send her a check for $60.00 and convince her that it's really for $6,000.

Well it looks like she has 1st grade spelling skills to go along with her 3rd grade art skills. Good thing she's a liberal or she would be unemployed and poor in addition to shockingly stupid and arrogant.

Why did the library buy the mural? Or allow it to be installed? Surely they saw it beforehand.

They should have left it misspelled and put a picture of the artist next to it.

$6,000, plus expenses, to fly the artist up from Miami to fix the errors. My guess is that the term artist is being used loosely.
I'm an illustrator by trade, and I hate to be associated with the term artist. The Pieta is art. I can guarantee you that whatever this guy did was crap.

Why not just leave it as is, and make sure the artist's name is prominently displayed? (maybe with it's own mis-spelling)

I looked at her website. She is pretty good. It looks like the misspellings were intentional- the looseness of spelling to suit the style. I think she and the mural should be left alone. An artist should have the right to be a bit spacy.

Well, she wanted her work to unite people....she's united them in laughter.

Part of the "See-and-Say" or "Whole Language" method of reading nonsense.

So, if we are not supposed to be looking at words when we study her "art", why the hell did she put words into it? I mean, give me a break. Get on a plane, study a dictionary, learn the language, and fix it. If I was your 4th grade teacher, you'd get a D-.
