we haven't groomed any candidates for a GOP president in 2008. And I don't think the country will elect a third Bush on the heels of Bush 43.

So in 2008, we had all better decide that we want to beat Hillary badly enough to allow candidates like Giuliani to participate fairly in the primary process, and take electability into account.

If we don't, Hillary will be president, and all of the things people fear will happen to the US - will accelerate 100 fold under her rule.

Oh, I'm in total agreement -- I see too many here who say they won't vote if the Candidate is a Guiliani-type candidate. IMO unless we elect a candidate in the primaries in 2008 who's dripping charisma, Hillary will win.

Personally, I like Rudy. I like what he did in New York -- and he wsn't always popular while doing it. New York during Rudy and New York now can't even be compared. Bloomberg is letting it slide back to pre-Rudy days.

What this tells me... a leader has to be tough and make tough decisions, even if the decisions are not always popular at the time. Business returned to New York and the city was re-vitalized under Rudy. Compare what he did to what happened in San Francisco under Willie Brown where he even wanted to give credit card machines to vagrants and the new mayor wants to give homes to vagrants.

I used to LOVE SF, I won't return until someone with some guts is elected and cleans the city up... The reason I brng it up is San Francisco is a prime example of what happenes under Socialism and should be enough to make clear-thinking people get out and vote Republican.

BTW, people make a lot out of Rudy's private life. All I can say is the door swings both ways and it's not always one party 100% at fault in these things and it's between he and his ex-wife. What I care about is what he can do for our country. He's an intelligent, clear-thinking man. Who happens to be popular enough to be able to cross party lines and pull in some Democratic votes. With illegal immigration and changing demograhics that is important.
