A major attack on the Jewish Gaza community of Kfar Darom was thwarted today, with the killing of three Palestinian terrorists.
The three arrived undetected in the community's greenhouse area, which is adjacent to Arab homes, and then split up. They threw an explosive device at a group of Thai workers, gravely wounding one. The other workers were safely evacuated from the site, but one terrorist took refuge in the same small building as the wounded man, preventing the latter's rescue for an hour and a half - and leading to his death.
The nearby IDF force quickly arrived on the scene following the first explosion, and initiated a firefight with the terrorists. Each of the three Arabs was separately discovered, engaged in battle and killed, including one who tried to escape.
The residents of Kfar Darom were told to remain inside their homes throughout the incident, which lasted for about two hours, until noontime. Spokesman Asher Mivtzari expressed thanks for the Divine miracle that befell them - "the terrorists planned a multi-stage attack, which could have resulted in many casualties" - as well as to the army for its resolute action.
Two rockets were fired at the hothouses of Kfar Darom last night as many dozens of people were visiting the community for the minor Sukkot holiday of Hoshana Rabba. The occasion was also used to mark the 75th anniversary of the purchase by the original Kfar Darom residents of the hothouse areas.

I wonder if we'll ever hear news like this here in the U.S., where we take out terrorists planning to strike. The IDF is doing about as good a job as can be done, and I hope we're taking notes.
