One reason this election is historically important is that it will confirm whether Americans are as dumb as the democrats make them out to be by making such mischief.

Actually, I think Israel has a great idea with their similar idea that everyone must serve in the military for two years. Everyone (men and women) goes through basic training but then the women go into non-combatant roles.

The discipline enforced via the military would do wonders for many in this age group. They would also learn the value of team work. I would much rather see military service than the America Corps perversion.

There are at least two women at work who swear Bush is bringing back the draft after the election and that is their sole reason they are voting for Kerry.

Hopefully this will put this nonsense to bed.

Of course the Democrats will now say the GOP is weak on defense because they failed to pass the measures necessary to protect the USA aka: the draft

I almost spewed my morning coffee when I heard ABC Radio report this morning that REPUBLICANS brought up this vote to show their united opposition to a draft in the face of Democratic criticisms. No mention at all that this piece of legislation was sponsored by Dems and the only two Representatives voting for it were Dems. What? Did Dan Rather switch networks last night while I slept?

Allow me to correct a common misconception. Nothing in the Constitution ever said who could or could not vote. Is was not viewed as a Federal decision. The qualifications for voters were left entirely to the states to decide. At least one state, New Jersey, at the time of the founding, gave women the vote. Before the 18th amendment passed in the early 20th century, a number of states gave the vote to women. Free blacks were also allowed to vote in a number of states in the early days of the nation before the passage of the 15th amendment after the Civil War.

You can't lay that on the Founders. It was always a state issue.
