The Bush/Cheney Campaign should have negotiated a debate between Cheney and Kerry.

I am sitting here silently smiling about 2 things. One is Cheney just handed Edwards a complete smackdown, made him look like a little boy.
The other thing is I thought I would try to hit all the flash polls. The polls are so obviously lopsided for Edwards that I question whether these news agencies will even release the real numbers. For anyone who watched the debates it will prove these flash polls are completely useless. The dems great plan is about to backfire on them. If you haven't looked there are numbers like 12% Cheney to 78% Edwards............How funny is that. LMAO

Gwin Ifill did superb job. Cheney missed following opportunities.
1. Did not defend Traditional Marriage as cornerstone of Amendment. Should not have let Edwards get away in calling it divisive.
2. Cheney should have reprimanded Edwards for calling Bush dishonest, and use such rhetoric as the true reason the country is divided.
3. Halliburton? "Who would you have hired to feed our troops and build their infrastructure, Senator?"
4. Edwards simply mimicked all of Kerry's talking points on Iraq. An empty suit, himself.
Overall, A Cheney victory.

Ok, this is from an outsider looking in.
What did I see?
I saw a man of experience, intelligence, and one that...if I was in trouble, one I'd ask for help. OK, I'd be scared of a slap over the wrist from him, for being silly, but I know I'd find succour there.
Then I saw a man, all smiles and talk, but one that I know I wouldn't for a minute ask for any help in times of trouble? Why? Because, I know he doesn't care a damn bit about me, he's too busy thinking about himself. He'll give me the spin, but the spin won't materialise.
THAT is exactly what I saw tonight.
A nice, but curmudgeonly, grandfather, and a fly-by-night hail-fellow-well-met black sheep uncle figure.
Cheney bowled me over.
I expected arrogance from him in advance of the debate and saw measured responsibility.
Edwards showed inexperience, and self-indulgence.

Dick Cheney did a great job, as I expected him to. Edwards was back on his heels for most of the debate.

Vice President Cheney was appropriately eloquent, thoughtful in each response, supported his debate with facts, demonstrated both mature statesmanship and experience from serving in public office for 20 years, was serious about tough questions regarding Iraq and health care, and during the entire debate demonstrated calmness and confidence.

No use trying to vote now the Dems have flooded the polls with phony votes. Edwards played to his crowd but had no real substance. What the hell good is he going to say about a man with no record. At least the Vice President looked like the experienced professional. Edwards showed about as much confidence as my six year old on the first day of school.

Cheney came out looking like a working man, digging a ditch, building a house, loading a truck, or whatever. Breck Girl looked like a manicured up dandy kibitzing from the side, offering unsolicited advice. What a contrast. I'd expect even some RATS would be embarassed.

Gwen Ifill was great. She caught Edwards off guard by grilling him on the International Test issue. At another point the asked him whether he was naive.
I would be happy with a Dick Cheney presidency. I've never seem him speak so well.

More on my research on the math on TV point:
Petrea was not only interested in college teaching but in the teaching of high school mathematics. Together with Arnold Nolstad he developed a television course on high school algebra and trigonometry which was broadcast on the University of North Carolina public television station, WUNC, for five years in the early 1960's. This was the first open circuit broadcast of high school mathematics in North Carolina. It was also carried in Virginia and South Carolina. (emphasis mine) http://www4.ncsu.edu/~njrose/Special/Bios/Petrea.html
So it IS possible...

Did you notice how Edwards kept refering to the American people watching "Television" They know they have the MSM in their pocket and they aren't afraid to point it out.

Cheney ruled, especially on directly answering the question asked. I thought Gywn asked very fair questions in a balanced way and Cheney nailed them. The Halliburton approach fell flat and Breck Girl looked like an idiot. The only area I thought Cheney dropped the ball was in the rebuttal to Edwards on the uniter/divider answer. Cheney answered the question directly by addressing the issue and not attacking Edwards, yet Edwards only attacked Cheney.
In the rebuttal, Cheney should have pointed out that Edward's response is the reason why there is such division; because people like Edwards and his party cannot do anything of substance, only attack attack attack without facts to back it up.
