Any runner who ever ran a marathon would know the exact year of the marathon they ran in and not give some vague timeframe like the '80s.

It would certainly be a highlight in my life and I would never lose an opportunity to brag about it.

I'm left with bragging about being able to job almost a mile...but that was back in the day.

Exactly. I have a friend from Chile who ran the race in 1978 and has a photo of himself crossing the finish line (time clock appears in the upper corner) prominently displayed in his office. He considers it one of the most memorable moments of his life.

YOU are SO RIGHT!
First, you remember what year it was, then what time you did each one in, then you have a medal that you get for finishing. That medal is not in a drawer, or hidden away.
I've ran 6 marathons 9 San Diego 85, Marine Corps 92, Big Sur 93, 94, 95, 97, and getting ready for Marine Corps
(Oct 31). I can recall the times in each one(over 4 hours)

California International Marathon, December 2, 2001. Finished in the top 3,000 (LOL!!!). Hey, I was 54 years old and still running at the end. Believe me, not only do I remember the day, the year, and the location, I remember every step those last 3 or 4 miles!

Yep. My dh and I both run and we know our times AND the dates. DH even knows his time from his first marathon back in 1988. I don't buy it.
