An unknown suspect fired several shots into the Bearden office of the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign Tuesday morning.

The headquarters are located at 4618 Kingston Pike, next to Noveau Classics and in the same shopping plaza as Long's Drugstore.

According to Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officers on the scene Tuesday, it is believed that the two separate shots were fired from a car sometime between 6:30 am and 7:15 am.

One shot shattered the glass in the front door and the other cracked the glass in another of the front doors.

There were no witnesses to the shooting. A customer at a nearby dry cleaning store noticed shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of the headquarters and called police.

Volunteers and staffers at the campaign office say they have no clues as to who might have committed the crime. However, they add that the shooting makes them even more enthusiastic and energized about working for their candidates.

"If I have to sleep here (at the campaign office) now, that's what I'll do," says volunteer Suzanne Dewar.

In an unexpected twist, a bank directly across the street from the headquarters was robbed just as KPD officers were busy investigating at the scene of the shooting.

didn't know Dems could operate firearms.

While the money folks, the limousine liberals, usually can't, nor the soccer moms, their foot soldiers, the union thugs and minority gang members, can and do.

Here in Gettysburg, PA, they used a pellet gun to fire at the plate glass window of the GOP Headquarters, and later used beer bottles to shatter the same window.

I'd like to see them try it! It probably wouldn't succeed. If we can get more Repubs., and some of the Dems. that like Bush, and go along with him, to help combat this, they will just look foolish! Hopefully, some of these same people; will want to keep Bush in office; because they basically like him, and have confidence in the way he's trying to keep them safe.

After all, there are all those Zell Miller and Ed Koch-like Dems. conservative, and liberal, who would go after them with a vengeance if they dare try that on him! There are a number of them; and the extremists in charge of the DNC, and much of the media, pretend they don't exist. And they don't want anyone else to know they exist either!

Then too, what would they(anti-Bush Dems)get him on? They would have to impeach the Dem's that go along with him, also! They'd have to actually prove the charges they bring! They forget that there were some Dems. that went along with Clinton's impeachment. Many turned from Clinton after that! Of course, we couldn't drive him from office. But they should be careful of what they wish for! Do they need to be reminded what happened when one of their own was impeached?

All of a sudden, he was just soooo popular!("You can't just turn over a popular election!" "Aw, just let him get back to doing his work for the American people!", "This is just soooo expensive, investigating the Pres.", "It was just about sex; the American people want to move on now", blah blah blah). Well, our side can play this game too! Only we would have the advantage of actual truth on our side this time, where Clinton's side didn't!

Here's what I'm afraid of. Either the "October 15" Surprise (I think I read here that couples plan to gather in DeeCee that day to stand for marriage between two genders on that day) OR something along the lines of the "grassy knoll" during President Bush's second inauguration.

I think I recall Hillary Rodham Clinton reportedly saying something about an October Surprise. See http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/3/30/123728.shtml

IF something disasterous occurs and she had knowledge of it before hand . . . she is accountable to ALL of us, not to just her own 'hiney' and 'honey.'

October 15 is the First day of the Fast of Ramadan. THAT in itself may mean something.

A friend said that among some Christian groups there is concern that something will occur during the swearing in ceremony.

THIS IS AMERICA. Things like this do not happen in America!

Things like this DID not happen in America, but they are becoming more and more common place.

Stand Tall and Pray Hard.

My Dad just won over his sister, and many of her friends who were leaning to voting J.Kerry! He had been talking to her on the phone, recently. He is a pro-Bush/Cheney Dem., and she and her friends were Kerry-leaning Dems. He and his family are Southern Dems.(SC), and most are mod. to conserv..

Well she was asking what he thought about J. Kerry and stuff that was happening in the elections. He proceeded to tell her some things about JK, and what many Dems. were up to, including the forged doc. issue. He said he was going to vote for GWB, not for Kerry because of the above.

Well, he talked to her again yesterday, and asked her slyly if she still intended to vote for JK. She said "Heck no!", she wasn't; and she had told all her friends what her brother told her about Kerry, and they aren't going to vote for him now either!

She also said that she had gotten on the internet, and looked up all the things my Dad had told her. She realized what he said was true; but she needed more info. to convince her friends. Sure enough, she convinced them to change their vote. (I presume to GWB.)Unfortunately, she did get a bit influenced initially with the AWOL stories on the president. But she doesn't believe those stories now, though.

I was shocked to hear that. But my Dad explained that even though she is a highly intelligent woman, she and many others, back there don't always pay enough attention to political issues, until it comes close to election time. Some others are not as well educated, and are influenced the wrong way, also. He said that a lot of them live up in the mountains, and are much more isolated.

Still, she was concerned enough to ask her brother what he thought, and kept an open mind. She probably would fall in the first category. I'll bet she's glad he told her now!

We MUST be vigilant, the absentee ballot is one of the fraud targets this go-round. There was the MI ballot posted a couple of days ago and the reports from OH of a >200% increase in new voter DEMONCRAT registration (25% Pubbie increase). The Dems have sent scores of lawyers to the battleground States to contest the election should W win, and Jimmy-the fool-Carter has gone to Florida and already started the charges of "disenfranchisement".
We need a swift(boat) reply ready and poised to strike.

No, definitely not! If not a Civil War, a violent Revolution like the French Rev.(not like ours). I can always hope for the best, even if I fear for worse. I hope we can see the signs before it can get that far, fight back, and stop it!

I keep thinking about something I read back during the recount in 2000. There was something about many frightened and angry people who were afraid of what the Gore campaign was pulling with the recounts; and that he would win with all the recounts. Many were buying guns, and lots of ammo. just in case!

I haven't heard anything else about these people.(I guess because G.Bush won anyway) I wonder if they are keeping ready those guns they bought; and preparing for any dirty tricks by JK, and his supporters this time around?

This is the 4'th or 5'th such incident I've read of in the past few days, not gunshot, but break-ins, vandalism and assault at Republican headquarters. I'm sure this will come as a surprise, but it has only been RATs doing this sort of stuff.

The science fiction author Robert Heinlein wrote a story that imagined a charismatic religious leader, Nehemiah Scudder

Ah yes, the not too bright, but very charismatic "First Prophet".

Of course there's also a lesson in "Fifth Column", and in "If This Goes On" itself for that matter.

SKS's are pretty cheap and you can get 700 rds of ammo for 65 bucks.

That's true, about the same cost as the cheapest shotgun. Don't know why I didn't think of that, since I've got one of Simonov's Self-loading Carbines myself, of Chinese manufacture. (SKS == Samozaryadnyj Karabin Simonova).

We have two hands and two feet. I have one hand and two feet and I can head butt and bite with the best of them

We also have guns, and many of us have concealed carry permits too. Self defense is the reason we have them, so if attacked I for one would not hesitate to draw and fire the weapon.

I think a 20 gauge semiauto would do just as well, if not better. Less recoil for the inexperienced shooter to deal with, and almost as much lead; also, the semiauto action eliminates the chance of stress-induced short stroking.

I've no problem with that analysis. But they are more expensive. I was trying to go for the the most power available at minimum cost.

That office invasion during working hours is awfully bold. And absolutely no different than the Nazi Brownshirts (SA). That being Florid, it's hard to believe that someone in the office didn't have a CHL, and pull out a pistol and shoot the SOBs.

We are descending into nihilism. All the signs are there, from the defiance of our marriage laws, to this. Our enemies can see it, the Dems see it also, but don't care. They seem to relish it. But, it seems that it has also stirred the blood of those who love more than themselves, who love their country (and more). What comes next is uncertain, but may re-define (yet again) what America is all about. Bring it on!
