In previous generations, when old people were not paid by the government for just existing, the elderly had dignity, composure and the wisdom of experience.

Today's elderly are, by and large, vile. They are grasping, eternally complaining, belligerent, unmannerly and behave worse than small children.

I don't know how many times I've heard some wizened miscreant do something rude and say: "I'm too old to have to watch what I say" or "I'm too old to wait on line" or "I'm too old to put up with these rules."

If a person roughly my age or younger curses in front of my little daughter or cuts in line at a store or grabs sale items out of my wife's hand as she's looking at them, I can tell them to mind their manners or watch their mouth and they'll generally stop or even sometimes apologize.

But the elderly will stand there and curse you out and yell and whine. It burns me that a good chunk of my check goes every week to keep these people living in subsidized leisure.

Central NJ.

We used to live in Queens where it was even worse. In Queens, my wife was sitting on a subway platform bench with my daughter asleep on her lap, and an elderly Russian woman came up to the bench.

There were about three spaces on the bench available for seating, but my sleeping daughter's legs were on the corner seat.

The woman asked my wife to move my daughter's legs so she could have the corner seat.

My wife said: "She's tired, she's had a long day. I don't want to wake her up until the train comes."

The woman insisted that my wife move my daughter and my wife said: "There are three emepty seats. Why don't you take one of those?"

The woman then pointed at my daughter's legs and said: "I hope those legs wither."

If I had been there, I would probably be in prison right now.
