While I agree with you that we have to take any hoax or funny comment about bombs on planes serious, I don´t think that the election of the US President is crucial for my life. It definitely has a deep influence on your life, but I´m pretty sure that the foreign policy will not change much. Both candidates don´t want to give Germany a veto on US security, so what advantages do we have? LOL
Seriously, Kerry and Bush will continue to fight terrorist structures where ever they occur and continue to believe in the North-Atlantic partnership. And finally, it is not my decision. All I can do is watch, and I promise you that I will do that.

WRONG, tough guy. The election of the US president effects the ENTIRE world. The fact that you think there isn't much difference between Kerry and Bush shows that you have not been receiving the full story in your German media (no surprise there).

P.S. Israel has ZERO reason to trust Germany's judgment with regard to terrorism.

Although a conservative, I will take a crack at this issue.

Even if Kerry wins, it is likely that Congress will remain in the hands of Republicans. Hence, Kerry will be hamstrung on economic issues.

On the other hand, Kerry will be weak on terrorism and any war. Once the election is over, bomb threats on airplanes will likely decrease if Bush is re-elected. If Kerry is elected, Islamic terrorists know that they can scare him with bomb threats. THAT is why the Presidential election is important to this whole discussion of bomb threats on airliners.

If you don't think the US Elections will have an effect on the rest of the world, then you view the world in a very small lens.

Oh no? So Kerry's Global Test on whether the US can protect itself without first having to convince some in Europe that we are justified in doing so doesn't involve Germany, France or any other country? Where have you been? Under a rock?

You couldn't be more wrong. Bin Laden struck and struck and struck because of the accurate perception that Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright were weak on terror. They rightly assumed that the political climated of the United States was not courageous enough to confront him directly.

They made an epic miscalculation, however, when it came to George W. Bush. Since 9/11, there has not been a major terrorist event in my country. During the past three years of tumult in Israel, no suicide bombers sponsored by Hamas have struck in the United States - why not? - because they have seen the punishment doled out to Afghanistan and Iraq. We have not seen anymore state-sponsored Al Qaeda attacks in the continental U.S., because the states that sponsor terrorism have seen the resolve of our President to bring justice to our enemies. We've even seen Mohammar Khadafy VOLUNTARILY lay down his WMD at the feet of our President due to the absolute stance our President has taken against terror and those who sponsor it.

Now imagine John "Global Test" Kerry in the Oval Office. Imagine John Edwards going to Syria and telling them to "cut it out or I'll sue". Imagine bin Laden, Zawahari, Ayatollah Khamenei, al-Sadr, Assad, and Zarqawi licking their chops when they realize that a U.S. pullout from the Middle East is only a Democratic president away. Imagine Iran with nuclear fuel; its nuclear missiles pointed at Western Europe, it's nuclear material up for sale to their minions in Hezbollah and Al Qaeda.

You really think your life doesn't depend on who's president here? Europe will be ruled by Sharia if these "overblown" enemies have their way. You need to step outside the bubble of Europe and see this situation for what it is, and John Kerry for what he isn't.

“But the issue, gentlemen, the issue is communism, and the question is whether or not we will leave that country to the Communists or whether or not we will try to give it hope to be a free people.
But the point is they are not a free people now under us. They are not a free people, and we cannot fight communism all over the world, and I think we should have learned that lesson by now....” John Kerry, Winter soldier hearings APRIL 22, 1971
Do you really believe that this is a man that is concerned about Germany? Had John Kerry had his way there would still be a wall in Berlin.
I think that Germany should be very concerned over who the leader of the free world is.
