Nonsense. Prior precedent says that they are. Geraldine Ferraro's husband filed separately from his wife. And he was shamed by the media into releasing his tax returns - it turns out he was engaged in questionable activities. Whether someone who may be the first spouse is actively engaged in criminal activity is relevant to me.
A husband's money is for all intents and purposes his wife's money and vice versa. You can't say George Soros or any ordinary 527 contributor's money is John Kerry's money.
I don't need to see Ms. Heinz Kerry's tax returns to know she's rich. And I don't envy her for being rich. But I do need to see her tax returns to see if she's funding 501(c)(3) organizations that are involved in the campaign as a back door campaign contribution. I need to see her tax returns to see if her husband has systemically voted in the Senate to protect her financial interests instead of his constituents' interests. I need to see her tax returns to understand if her husband is allowing her to cheat on her taxes. I need to see her tax returns to understand where she stands and to whom she has made charitable contributions. After all, you admit Ms. Heinz Kerry is John Kerry's "best" special interest. I should be able to follow the money to learn where her heart is.
More than that, Ms. Heinz Kerry is actively running to be first lady of the United States. If she stood silent in the background like Howard Dean's wife did during the primaries, I would be a little more sympathetic to her not releasing her tax returns. But Ms. Heinz Kerry has been actively campaigning for her husband. If she doesn't like the heat she should get out of the kitchen.
I am not a police officer or on a jury. I don't need probable cause to suspect something is amiss. All I need is logic. If presidential candidates and their spouse typically provide certain information and one candidate or his spouse doesn't provide that information, I will conclude that something's probably not quite right until proven otherwise. Even the liberal New York Times and Washington Post agree that Ms. Heinz Kerry should release her tax returns, as does every conservative paper I'm aware of.

"Then, afer the debates the Republicans need to run ads about Tereysas 11% tax rake, juxtaposed against whatever Kerry says about raising taxes on the rich." I have heard Kerry say thet he dosen't deserve a tax cut. He thinks he is not paying enough taxes. Someone needs to inform him that the US Treasury will gladly accept whatever additional money he would like to send them. You can in fact make donations to the Federal, State and Local governments if you so desire. Nothing (except his greed) is stopping Heinz-Kerry from setting an example and paying more than is required.

LOL In the ear. Just a couple of drops. Garlic oil is the best for any infection. Athletes footies? Rub garlic oil on them at night and wash in the morning so you don't smell twice as bad.

"She's a US citizen, wherever she was born." Possibly. She might still hold a dual citizenship, too.
In fact, she *might* be using her dual citizenship to pay a lower income tax rate by using either herself or a Mozambique entity as a Benedict Arnold corporate tax loophole, the very thing that Senator Kerry has railed against himself.
...But we'll hardly know for certain one way or the other while she is hiding most or all of her income tax return pages.
What we *do* know is that she is hiding parts of her income tax return. What we don't know is what is being hidden inside those unreleased pages, or why.

Precedent means plenty outside of court. It tells me what is expected of a candidate during the course of the election. If the candidate doesn't follow it, I have a right to ask myself why. The most logical inference is that they are hiding something.
John Kerry has used his wife's fortune to help himself during the course of the campaign. He flew around on his wife's plane, the Flying Squirrel, mortgaged a jointly owned property, used her other 4 homes for photo ops and lent his campaign millions of dollars during the primary (repaid with public money after the DNC). She injected herself into the campaign. Her financial affairs are relevant. She should release her tax returns.
I have a lot more information to back up my suspicions about Ms. Heinz Kerry than you think. I know for a fact from Kerry's Senate financial statements that she has invested in a number of tax advantaged hedge funds, including some that invest in "environmentally friendly" activities like timber and oil and gas. I know that her income has been sheltered through trusts. I know that she curiously dumped direct ownership of foreign stocks before her husband decided to run for President, and obfuscated the fact that she then bought a foreign mutual fund on that year's Senate disclosure statement. I know that she and her husband are typical do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do hypocrite liberals who would raise my taxes while fighting for loopholes to protect their wealth. I also suspect that she didn't check the box to be taxed more in Massachusetts, even though she could have.
Stop changing the subject. This is not a Haliburton fishing expedition. It is a request that Ms. Heinz Kerry do what other recent Presidential candidates and their spouses have done --- release their tax returns so that we know they are not a conduit for corruption. Even the liberal editors of the New York Times and Washington Post think she should. Funny how a so-called conservative doesn't. By the way, who are you voting for in this election? With your mantra of Haliburton, Haliburton, Haliburton, I'm guessing Kerry.

Could be she is diverting funds from the Heinz Foundation by way of "expenses" to her own account?

Glad you asked.
Yes, it does matter how the very wealthy spouse of the President of the United States gets her income - she will hve substantial influence on policy, and she needs to prove what influences she will yield when her husband takes over the most powerful position in the world.
And Welcome to Free Republic.
I see you signed up the night of the debate.
Enjoy yourself.

Sorry, forgot to add - put some cotton in the ear after you drop the garlic oil in. Helps keep oil in and air out. The air (IMO) is what makes the pain worse.
