SENATOR KERRY: I understand what the President is talking about, because I know what it means to lose people in combat. And the question, is it worth the cost, reminds me of my own thinking when I came back from fighting in that war, and it reminds me that it is vital for us not to confuse the war, ever, with the warriors. That happened before.
And that's one of the reasons why I believe I can get this job done, because I am determined, for those soldiers and for those families, for those kids who put their lives on the line. That is noble. That's the most noble thing that anybody can do. And I want to make sure the outcome honors that nobility.
And guess WHO made it happen??? None other than our debate-style winner. It happened before, Johnno, because you called all the Vietnam warriors war criminals, baby-killers, rapists, drug addicts, social misfits, etc., etc. As a matter of fact, you are the ONLY politician in our history who has EVER confused the war with the warrior.
Someone out there: HOLD THIS CRIMINAL ACCOUNTABLE for his actions and statements.
shut UP JUST SHUT THE HECK UP!!!!!!!!!!
Im sick of him, his lies, his immoral soul if he has one, his shallowness, ALL OF IT.....he is a TRAITOR to America and yet is running for office of POTUS... ANOTHER CLINTON, just as bad, if not worse....tho I doubt anyone could be...but Kerry is not even as talented as Clinton at lying.....what a FREAKIN MESS america will be in, if these trashy low lifes get control.....sheesh
John Kerry: "My position is complicated, and you're too dumb to understand."
If John Kerry was to win... He will be the most despised POTUS ever.... He will sharply divide the country... and he will get NOTHING passed thru congress...
If John Kerry was to win... He will be the most despised POTUS ever.... He will sharply divide the country... and he will get NOTHING passed thru congress...
I honestly feel that if John Kerry wins this election, in the face of his obvious duplicity and hypocrisy, in the face of his 20 yr. voting record, and in the face of his views of national sovereignty... I would have to say that this country will have officially gone to Hell in a handbasket.
I appeal to the Bush campaign, please do not let this shameful man even appear to win another debate.
" I understand what the president is talking about, because I know what it means to lose people in combat."
Given the fact that he never says anything you can actually pin him down
on - it is difficult to really figure out what he meant. But you take it in
the context of his other statements in the debate where he spoke of serving in Vietnam and the lessons he learned - it is perfectly reasonable to assume that "I know what it means to lose people in combat" meant he actually had people either under his command who were killed or he served in the same unit at the same time others were killed. I think it is reasonable to assume he was not speaking of the Gridley but of the second of his "two tours"
Using the timeline which is on his website
http://www.johnkerry.com/about/john_kerry/service_timeline.html
and the casualty data base for the period he was in country
http://www.no-quarter.org/gui/advresults.php
I came up with the following:
His first month was in training at Cam Ranh Bay, and he was assigned to
- Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan Provinces - there were no US Navy KIA's during the November 17, 1968 through January 31, 1969 period in those two provinces.
There were casualties in April in An Xuyen Province when three Navy
personnel were killed in the same incident (Droz, Holloway, and
Worthington) - the incident occurred on April 12, 1969 and involved
personnel whom Kerry had served with in Coastal Division 11. Droz commanded PDF-43 during the action which gave rise to Kerry's Silver Star.
If Kerry is referring to the deaths of Droz, Holloway and Worthington as
being the "I know what it means to lose people in combat" - he wasn't even in Vietnam then. He reported for duty at the Brooklyn Navy Yard the day before on April 11, 1969.
It seems to me - that if indeed he had lost people under his command - or if there were people killed during the actions which he has posted on his website - he would have mentioned it. I've looked but cannot find any
reference to Kerry being involved in actions where US personnel were killed.
The only conclusion that can be made - given his other exaggerations - is
that once again he has lied.

From your mouth to God's ear . . .
If sKerry was to win.... the Nation is doomed to Civil War.
I'm not sure if it's been brought up in the MSM or anywhere else. However, I can tell you this- my son and his buddies were at a wedding this weekend (101st AB) and they are ALL voting for Bush- and furthermore- they DID hear that remark about confusing the war with the warrior- and are furious about it.
Hooray! Someone WAS listening and had the wit to be appalled.
He's calling HIMSELF noble.
Thanks for the research. Never served with, nor met Kerry, but I believe most of his combat experiences as well as the medals, have been works of fiction.
He is a coward for feigning three wounds which got him out of harm's way.
He is a traitor for falsely accusing his comrades of atrocities and for helping the North Viets to prolong the war.
He is a fraud for lying about it all to the American people.
P.S. Went to the county elections office last friday and cast my vote for Bush. Couldn't wait. I hope this pisses off the Frenchys.
I have never seen it anywhere but I have been posted this since last Friday; also wondering why no one was picking up on it.
I never thought I could loathe someone to the degree that I loathe the Clintons, but I was wrong. Kerry makes my blood boil. I hate him. I hate his lies, his smears, his flip flops, cheating. He's absolutely disgusting, and I'm ashamed because I'm from MA.
I watched the debate last Thursday and could not believe that he made that statement. As nowhere is it documented that anybody under Kerry's command was KIA, wounded yes but not KIA!
So far as I know with your vote it's Bush 1, Kerry 0 LOL.
