If this is a (or the) "October Surprise" by a "concerned government official", maybe that official should have released the documents to the White House, or at least to a more "high profile" news agency than CNS. I'm sure the DNC and Kerry campaigns have already anticipated such a document dump. First the Democrats will "question the timing" of the release of any such documents. Then they discredit the source(s) (e.g. CNS, FOX and whoever else other than the MSM trumpets them). Finally, they will have Dan Rather's document experts examine the documents, and either pronounce them fraudulent or state (as they did not in the Burkett case) that lacking the originals they cannot render an objective judgement on them. The only way that such documents will gain any traction is if the President himself embraces the documents, and beats Kerry over the head with them. Unfortunately, Mr. Bush will then have to be prepared for the MSM counterattack, which will doubtless include the "quashed" Ed Bradley piece on the "forged" Italian documents that started the Niger "yellow cake" story (the intent being to show that the Administration doesn't know a forged document from a real one, i.e. that the Interim Iraqi government, for example, might have generated the reports in question).

If you release the documents to the government, expect months of study before they are released. If you release them to one of the alphabets, expect them not to be talked about until after the election. If you release them to Fox, expect weeks of study before they feel confident to stake their reputation on them (especially after CBS's mess). If you release it to a large Internet site, expect weeks of vetting before being talked about so they don't loose their reputation.

That leaves small Internet sites.
