Nuke program parts unearthed in Baghdad back yard
Mike Boettcher,
David Ensor,
and producer Maria Fleet
Experts said the documents and pieces Obeidi gave the United States were the critical information and parts to restart a nuclear weapons program, and would have saved Saddam's regime several years and as much as hundreds of millions of dollars for research. David Albright, who was a U.N. nuclear weapons inspector in Iraq in the 1990s, said inspectors "understood that Iraq probably hid centrifuge documents, may have had components, and so it is very important that those items be found." ...Obeidi said he felt unsafe in Iraq after the U.S.-led invasion and that he was getting pressure from different corners of the country. He also said other Iraqi scientists were watching to see if he was safe after he cooperated with the U.S. government. Now that he and his family are safely out of Iraq, Obeidi said he believes other scientists would come forward with other components of Iraq's weapons program.
Iraqi uranium found but concerns remain
by Rob Edwards

On Thursday, IAEA inspectors will complete their first mission to Iraq since the war. But they have not been allowed by the US to check the safety and security of these radiation sources, which are used in hospitals and factories or kept in storage. Many of the sources contain potentially lethal amounts of caesium 137, cobalt 60 and other radioactive isotopes. If stolen, they could be combined with a conventional explosive to make a bomb that would contaminate a city centre. They could also pose a serious threat to public health if mislaid or mishandled. Looting has been repeatedly reported at the biggest radiation store, the Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Centre near Baghdad. Doctors in the area say they are seeing dozens of people every day with symptoms of radiation poisoning such as diarrhoea, rashes and nose bleeds... According to the IAEA director general, Mohamed ElBaradei, "most" of the uranium is accounted for, though he is still waiting for the final report from his inspectors. The material has been kept under IAEA seal since 1991 to prevent it from being manufactured into high-enriched uranium for atomic bombs.

I hope this is a case of hearing it on FR today and the MSM in a couple of days.

What's the rep of the site that published this?

Ok.. now that we are over 100 posts... What now?

Still no one with a valid idea of why the administration does ever mention evidence LIKE this?

Good point about the "Arnold gropers" and so true. There is a possibility that this was released to the conservative news division of the Media Research Center to show appreciation for their efforts in uncovering the truth. We know if it was handed on a silver platter to the mainstream, they'd spike it with some trivial non-story. The internet (home of the hoax) is ironically replacing the alphabet networks as a more truthful resource.

When our troops liberated Iraq the uncovered loads of personal protective (equipment(PPE) for handling and ezposure to WMD's. If Saddam s's regime was so strapped for cash why was he spending what he had to buy unnecessary equipment?

The mainstream news media put *more* reporters on the trail of so-called "Arnold gropers" during the California recall election than they've tasked to analyze the available evidence of Hussein working with terrorists who have killed Americans...

Yeah, great point... You should keep asking this question as much as possible.

Actually, that may not be such a sad thing. If, say in October(4th), this get's leaked, then after a week or two in the backchannels of the new media it get's mainstreamed by FOX (and grudgenly fallowed up by the MSM) that not only this happend, but Kerry knew it happend.....

Kill Shot.

They got burned in the past, especially with the mobile bioweapons labs story. They would have to proceed with great care. They cannot afford to make a mistake.

The part about the anthrax is especially intriguing, but I don't know if this is chasing ghosts at this stage.

Iraqi WMD Debate and Intelligence Failed to View Total Picture

Anaysis. By Gregory R. Copley, Editor, GIS. Discussion and analysis of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs relating to the former Iraqi Administration of Pres. Saddam Hussein has seriously — and virtually from the beginning — missed the point. By focusing entirely on Iraqi WMD programs within the physical borders of Iraq, and by refusing to discuss contextual issues, the arguments missed the point that the bulk of the Iraqi WMD work since 1991 was conducted outside the borders of the country, this being a result of the lesson which Saddam derived from the 1991 Coalition war against him.

There is a very substantial, historical chain of intelligence — much of which has been cited and verified by Global Information System (GIS) HUMINT sources over the past 14 years and some of which has been verified by external sources — resoundingly confirming this position, which can be summarized as follows:

1. Documents Moved to Syria: In essence, documentation of that small portion of the WMD program which was administered directly in Iraq was moved, along with other sensitive material and resources, to the Hshishi Compound at al-Qamishli (Kamishli) in Syria, just near the Iraqi border, in August-September 2002. This was noted by GIS at that time.1

2. R&D Conducted in Libya: The great bulk of the work on WMD and on associated missile delivery systems, however, was conducted since 1991 in a partnership with Libya, and also with Egypt, at facilities in Libya, in order to keep the programs away from US and United Nations (UN) probes. That, too, was noted by GIS.2 (snip)

It doesn't matter to the Bush haters. They will continue to parrot the lie like good little useful idiots.

Another good hypothesis, but many of these stories have been around for a while.

I know the MSM is biased, but don't you think there is a Pulitzer prize out there for someone who BREAKS OR DEBUNKS these stories?

...still need a theory.

Should be interesting to see what, if anything pans out with this story.

A local radio talk show had an Iraqi woman on the show last week that said that it is "general knowledge" on the street in Iraq that Saddam's WMD were moved to Syria long before the invasion.

But let's just see if the Lame-stream media picks upon this story at all.

What an opening for Rather.

He will say they have a copy of the documents, but because of their honest mistake (yea rite) with the forged documents dissing President Bush, they will carefully have these studied to see if they are real.

This will take until Nov 3rd.
