Was Kerry was looking down a lot during the debate?

I think he scribbled something down (or at least appeared to) early on.... perhaps so that no one would be curious as to why he was looking down all the time.

In the side-by-sides, do we see Kerry looking down a lot while Bush is talking??

Yes. He'd look down, then bob back up to flash that famous and warm sKerry smile. He was, in fact, reading his crib sheets and writing with his "pen."
