If his performance had been a disaster, his personal ratings would have crumbled. They haven't.

I just read the article, it seems that Bush leads in most categories, as he always has. These polls are driving me nuts. And they are attracting all kinds of trolls as well..

All things considered, the first debate was a draw at best. Public opinion says Kerry won. So be it. Bush lost the opportunity to put Kerry away. I've never seen GWBush so unprepared before. The President needs to move on. He needs to get more mentally focused and lose the defensive posture. Bush can't afford to lose the next debate.

These things sort of work like Mt Helens. Slowly at first, and then a bit faster. The debate made things more fluid, and the magma is on the move. Whether it erupts depends on future events, and the spin doctors. It is just too early to really know the ultimate fallout.
