Still think the flourishing pen was a deliberate distraction; wondered 'WHAT' he was doing; now we know. As I offered before - would bet he had a good idea what the questions were beforehand; and had the answer cheat-sheets ready. . .
I don't know where you live, but It's a safe bet it's not Pensacola, Milton, Fairhope, Century, Floamington, Crestwiew, Robertsdale, Lillian, Spanish Fort, Pannama City, Atmore, Gulf Breeze, Perdido, Destin, Navarre, Mobile, Fort Walton, Dauphin Island, or Gulf Shores.
Local Officals dropped the ball completely in some areas.
Pictures of the disaster are here:

It is catastophic. You tell me if he should have come.
I've live in Texas and grew up in Indiana. I've seen floods and tornadoes in both states. If you need the President of the United States on hand immediately afterward to motivate and direct relief workers, I have to wonder why we have them at all. This happens every year, or nearly so. I would think the organizations would have their act together. (I'll give them credit that they do.)
No, he should not have come untilt he situation was in hand. (You do have a governer down there, too, don't you?) I elect the President to lead at the top. Not manage in the middle.
Hey, welcome aboard, I'm in Macomb County.
You PING by responding to a poster as you just did. That brings the current thread back to the forefront for others to see......
Right, James Baker settled that. The Supreme Court and voters had nothing to do with it. Thank GOODNESS for the holy of holies, ol' JB.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
If you want to give someone credit where it's due, give it to Gibson Dunn. Or better yet, the incompetence of the combined Florida Supreme Court at crafting a decision that could withstand appellate review.
JB was the front man. He is ALWAYS the front man for what he banks on succeeding. He rarely gambles on projects that might make his nice clean shirts dirty.
I provided plenty of info. All I have to do to make James Baker look bad is mention this isn't his first f-up and Lee Atwater's name. But to add some clarity:
JB trotted out the famous five reasons NOT to topple Saddam in 91, helping to piss away the 92 election after HW had the highest approval rating ever.
JB cracked the whip on Israel to recognize the murdering bastards of the PLO as the rightful rep of the Palestinian people. Not that this is inconsistent with ol' "F the Jews" Jimmy's rep.
JB, Secretary of the Treasury in the late 80s, laid off the S&L crisis to someone else.
When Dubya's Dad took Dan Quayle as his running mate in 1988, CAMPAIGN CHAIR JB told the press corps that he disagreed with picking Quayle, starting the Anti-Dan ball rolling. Wonder why? Could "The Fixer" have been a little jealous?
And not that there is any conflict with James Baker Botts negotiating in the Middle East for us now, given his years playing footsie for the Bin Laden family and the Saudis. This man is the proverbial bad penny of the Mideast. Yet his relationship with Poppy keeps him in the thick of things.
I believe Dubya's the rightful President and a good man. However, I believe James Baker is a neocon uber-Clark-Clifford who helped muzzle the right in Reagan's time. He is a former Rat, after all. And he has always been about what's best for James Baker, not the country OR the conservative cause. That the Velvet Hammer always manages to come out when the big plate's going around is testimony to him being a good vulture.
And I am not 'one of those types,' thank you very little. I'll be voting for Dubya. But big-dollar slime like Baker belongs on the outside working for Kofi Annan, not for the U.S.
Does that tell you what I really think?
I watched the Gore debates and was disappointed in Bush at times. But Gore is not Kerry.
And none of Bush's performances can compare to what we saw on Thursday.
Most said that Bush ultimately beat Gore in the 2000 debates. Nobody in their right mind will say that about the debate on Thursday.
I know you don't care. That's fine. You got the President when you needed him. Y'all better there when he needs you on November 2.
You don't have to worry about that, not in this area.
They were allowed to bring in blank paper and a pen which was handed to the moderator to be placed on the podium before the debate. Looking at the blank paper was a good ploy to keep from showing annoyance with Kerry while he was talking.
"Most said that Bush ultimately beat Gore in the 2000 debates. Nobody in their right mind will say that about the debate on Thursday."
This lady disagrees with you.

save post for later.
That is why one has to believe he knew the questions ahead of time.

I have a digital TIVO and it slow motions really clear, frame by frame. Kerry clearly took what appears to be note cards out of his jacket when his back was to the audience. He then slid them onto his podium and read and sorted whatever he took from his pocket. I doubt Kerry knew there was a rear camera rolling when he pulled the maneuver.
So where is the news. Dims cheat, lie and steal. We knew that. Watch for fraud in the election. Bush just walked up to his podium and stood there. Bush clearly had nothing with him.
HOWEVER, it is likely a mistake to focus on this. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Time to buck up and move on. Plenty of time left to get back ground lost. Let's roll.
Great! I hope means 'Florida!'
Anyway, can you tell me what's wrong with this article?

It's on Drudge. . .!
I know there has been some really bad feelings toward James Baker over the years. I just don't agree with most of them. As the old saying goes; "Opinions are like a**holes we've all got them." Take care and I'm glad you love our President like I do. Glad your voting for him. ;o) (and I don't think Baker is kept in the fold because Daddy Bush just likes him; there's more to it)
Given his usual two-ply answers; this was more than unusual; it was impossible.
Given what CBS had done; given the strident; determined - truth-be-damned Kerry Media - in full assault; it is not much of a stretch; to imagine this was done by the people who will do 'any'thing to take the reigns of power.
But one thing. . .it won;'t be 'they' did this. . .and for sure Not JIM LEHER - no,no, no. . .it was some little lurch somewhere who stole them off their computer. . .or found a copy in the copy machine. . .or on the bathroom floor. . .
