I enjoyed reading this. I live in McLennan County and you truly captured the flavor of our area. We were all stunned by the Iconoclast's Kerry endorsement, and it's safe to say most of us saw it as an insult to us and to our President. This area is fiercely loyal to W, and we are all proud that he and Laura chose to live here. He and Laura have been good neighbors and support Crawford in so many ways that don't make national headlines. When they are in residence they go out of their way to make sure their presence doesn't disrupt traffic or business. Almost the only way we know they are here is the faint background drone of the air patrol. The Iconoclast made a lot of enemies last week, with good reason. No town wants to be inaccurately portrayed by the liberal media's agenda to elect Kerry at all costs. As to the Peace House people -- I had the misfortune of meeting a few of them at some nonprofit seminars in Waco. They are a bunch of aging, activist, liberal hippies who think they are much more important than they are. Thanks for setting things straight.

Thanks much. I tried to be fair to all sides. I'm hoping to salvage the situation, and maybe persuade the paper to at least a politically neutral position. It can be such a great asset to the community. The Bushes have been great neighbors, although they still haven't invited me over for dinner.
