You can do whatever you want. All I am trying to do is correct a FALSE charge that you have made. You wrote: "I have NEVER heard that it was only for legal funds and their literature does not so state."

I have shown you what the Bush website says as well as quoted you an AP article that flatly CONTRADICTS what you claimed. If you are an intelligent person who can read and reason, you will accept your mistake and move on.

I am also not a "newbie." I have been posting here for over 6 months. I chaged my name to "Cableguy" about 3 months ago.

Lastly, I guess you know so much about me that you think I am married. You write: "long suffering wife." That says a lot about yourself, willing to make claims without knowing one thing. This is last time I am willing to educate you. Bye.

I donated to FR last time. When FR has a fund drive, I will pony up like everyone else who cares.

I still think Swift Vets can do more damage to Kerry than Bush or GOP ads. These guys must be holding back more charges until the debates are over.

I just attempted to make a $200 donation on gop.com. After giving my credit information etc, I hit the Submit button. I got no response on their web page nor did I receive an email. I don't know whether my donation registered or whether their system is malfunctioning.

While you are making you much needed donation to the Swift Vets, save some for the FR fundraiser that starts tomorrow!

Call your local GOP office and see what you can do for your local Senate or the Presidential race. I've volunteered for Coburn here in Oklahoma twice in the last week or so... keep proactive.

You should have gotten a notice on the screen with a confirmation number. I would make a call to your credit card company to see if you got through.

Hugh Hewitt's site has a list of close, winnable senate races with links where you can contribute.

The President gets federal matching funds now and is fully funded, so if you want to send someone money, send it to these guys.

After repeated attempts to educate the person with facts and evidence (that all current/future contribution to Bush goes to a special compliance fund), and all I got was the following statement: "I feel sorry for your long suffering wife."

Given that someone has insulted my wife, my comeback is perfectly justified. Wouldn't you do the same thing if someone makes fun of your mother or wife?

To: Cableguy; All
Agreed. Other things we can do are 1) volunteer at our local GOP to make phone calls, distribute literature, etc., and 2) write intelligent, well reasoned letters to our local newspapers.

This letter was published today, and I thought it was excellent. Although I didn't write it, I think we might use it as a model.

Candidate choices

There are four major candidates running for president in 2004. The first is Sen. John Kerry. This candidate's 20-year career in the U.S. Senate has produced so little in terms of accomplishment that even Kerry spends very little time talking about his Senate career. He is the candidate who has consistently voted for higher taxes against all wage earners; he is the candidate who has remained tight with the radical environmentalists who seek to destroy our state's coal industry; furthermore, he is the candidate with a long history of voting to cut defense spending. He wants your vote.

The second candidate running for president is John Kerry. This candidate voted for the Patriot Act, voted for the President's "No Child Left Behind" Act, and he voted to give President Bush the power to go to war against Iraq if necessary. He clearly seems to have agreed with our current president quite a bit the last three years. He wants your vote.

The third candidate running for president is John Kerry. This version of Sen. Kerry opposes tax increases while at the same time proposes $3 trillion of new spending measures. This time Kerry now opposes the Patriot Act, opposes the "No Child Left Behind" Act, and after seemingly positioning himself as the anti-war candidate in the democratic primaries, he is now committed to the war in Iraq, provided it only takes six months to win the war. He, too, wants your vote!

The fourth candidate is President George W. Bush. This candidate has cut taxes for all Americans twice in just over three years. This candidate listened to the steel industry by providing help and as a result has done more to help our local steelworkers than Bill Clinton did in eight years. This president has liberated two countries from ruthless, freedom-hating regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. This candidate has not flinched or wavered while consistently showing the leadership ability to make the tough decisions to protect our country. He is our president, and he wants our vote.

I will vote for President Bush on Nov. 2 because it's obvious that he's the only true leader running for president of our splendid nation.
