~SIGH~ MY phone hasn't rung. Heck, I volunteered after 911. But I was forced out of the IRR in 1994 by Clinton during the big RIF. I guess there's no shortage of retread, 47 year old Infantry or Armor Captains....I served in both branches.

I join in prayer for our heroes and their loved ones!

Hell, I'm a 55 year old retired Signal Officer and I'm still waiting for the phone to ring too!

You know, we're probably too old to be in the class of young stud, trigger pullers but I'll bet we can still plan a hell of an operation. Logistics was my secondary. I wonder if TPTB will ever understand that there is a WEALTH of experience just waiting for that call and most of whom would gladly answer! I'd need some waivers, but such things happen easily if the need is there. I wouldn't even ask for a promotion to major. IMHO, Captain (03) is the best rank there is!

Plan hell, we can lead at Company and Battalion even Brigade.
If not that, I know we sure can train up some hard nosed troops for the repo-depot. "Kiss everything but your duffel bag and issued clothing good-bye. Training is 5 12 hour days, 1 6 hour day, Sunday, if you're not at Chapel in the morning, you're on detail until noon chow, Troop! Only after the noon meal can you sit on your bum and read the Sunday funnies and sports page IN the company day room."

I'm 47, and I'd go in a heartbeat. At any rank.

IN the company day room.Ahhhh the DAY ROOM! I'd forgotten that aspect of army life. My guys used to subscribe to every gun and military mag in the world and all the soft porn and biker 'zines and have 'em sent to our Day Room. It was great reading for post FTX weapon cleanings and barracks GI Parties!

At 53 I'd go in a heart beat, that said, given the "domestic ememies" of this
country, all us 40, 50, 60 somethings gonna get our chance again when the
Second American Civil War rolls around, and unfortunately, if things don't
change soon....
To: spartan68
Yep, and we won't have to fly 5,000 miles to get to the fight.

Sure makes it nice that the AWB expired. Hurry and stock up on M-1 and M-2 Garrands, M-14s, AR-15s, 1911A1s and ammo.

Better than having to burn it in the open with diesel fuel. Be on that detail and just once have the wind direction change to the old man's area or the chow area. ....
