Welcome newbie!
I have every confidence in the strength and fortitude of President Bush!

Its a numbers game and it seems that Newsweek had to change the affliations to show an improvement for Kerry. A dramatic switch from the previous polls. I am actually reassured by your posting the internal numbers, since it just didnt seem to me that people were watching that intently and just changed their minds based on one debate.

It's not. I heard the smarmy Eleanor Clift say that the "race would tighten" in the Newsweek survey.Well Elanor works for Newsweak. She probably had the poll done

All the hoopla is nothing but 'noise.' Polls, Scmolls.......if this was reversed, the left would be dissing the credibility of the results. So, Kerry 'won' the debate. Just a good appearance. Bush had the substance. Some callers into talk shows wondered if the Texas poker player was letting Kerry hang himself, Bush provided the rope. Or, a case of "Rope a Dope?"
Hewitt on his show thinks the election will be decided by women, and especially the Security Moms not having confidence in Kerry.
Map as of today:
Strong Kerry (112) Weak Kerry (48) Barely Kerry (78) Exactly tied (4) Barely Bush (64) Weak Bush (105) Strong Bush (127)

Why did he agree [Team Bush] to three [debates]? The usual reason: insufficient contempt for democrats.

This is all so transparently silly. HEY ALL YOU TROLLS AND HANDWRINGERS!!!! If all the other polls that come out this week show a 11% shift in partisan affiliation like this one (fat chance), I'll send Micheal Moore a check for $1000 . Not gonna happen! I have nothing to say to teh trolls. But you chicken littles disgust me. No wonder the Dems held power for so long.

Shortly before the debate began, Newsweek national editor Jon Meacham suggested on MSNBC that journalists are tired of Bush being in the lead, and so will try to narrow the race. Meacham foresaw "the possibility that President Bush has peaked about a month too early. Because we all need a narrative to change." Chris Matthews asked: "Is that your prediction?" Meacham replied: "I think it's possible that we're gonna be sitting around saying, 'Well you know Kerry really surprised us.' Because in a way the imperative is to change the story." http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/graham200410011024.asp

Do you suspect the bribe to Rove that he implies in one of his earlier posts? Please.

Oh really? It isn't 1984? Thanks for the heads up.
You obviously missed the point. Becoming discouraged because of one debate or one leftist poll is just silly.
Cheer up......read THIS

Agreed.
Trolls and sleepers are one thing, but everyone else had better insert a rod into their spine and understand the Dems only hope of winning is through Fraud. The internals have been exposed and the poll is junk.
Wait until the internals are released on these polls before believing media spin. Hysterics over nothing only amuse the enemy.

That's as good an answer as any. Bush did a good job earlier during this term of ignoring the Democrats and the press, and the way they reacted made things worse for them.

Bush will handle the next two debates just fine.. Were you saying that before this 1st debate? Because I know I was thinking the same thing, but then look what happened. I will only believe W will do fine in the upcoming debates when it happens, and not before then.
To: whadizit; Hattie
I agree completely. It appears that the Bush campaign thought the election was over and Bush had won. They did not do their homework, AND IT SHOWED! OH BROTHER!!
Start paying attention, people! You guys are misinformed, and completely WRONG!
THIS CAMPAIGN IS IN HIGH GEAR AND NO ONE IS TAKING ANYTHING FOR GRANTED!
Now get out there and do some work to make SURE it happens, you gloomy gusses!!

According to the Beltway Boys, Bush is doing a good job getting the message out as to Kerry's inconsistencies, and it's starting to backfire on him now.

Even you have to agree that Bush blew a unique opportunity to end this thing by performing badly on Thursday. I don't hear too many people saying that Bush will lose, but right now it's not CERTAIN that he will win. Myself, I felt better KNOWING that Bush would win. I can't say that now. I think we're back to where we started, with a four or five point Bush lead among likely, Kerry having the momentum, and states like FL, OH, WI, IA and MN determining the winner.
Not too long ago, of course, there was talk of taking NJ. We're sort of far from that talk.
