To: 1-Eagle Bush sounds like a decent, plain speaking guy. Gore sounds like a infomercial slickster.

To: hole_n_one I'm not voting for either - but Gore is coming across as a big pr*ck. Bush has to start swinging back.

To: JulieRNR21 Gore is clearly energized and is carrying the fight. Hes stomping all over the debate rules and just blubbering away. Albeir effectively. W is holding his own but as of right now hes losing. Sorry. I call em as I see em.

To: hole_n_one wow. this is painful. gore is cleaning his clock, because somebody told bush that under no circumstances should bush call gore the lying sack that he is. nor does bush get sufficiently angry to stop gore's interruptions. actually, i'd be kind of happy right now to simply see bush wander over and beat the living hell out of gore.

To: hole_n_one Bush is stumbling on his answer about how/when he would use U.S. troops...should be a slam dunk on this issue...

Let's face it folks Gore is destroying Bush. It kills me, but it is true. Bush's rambling and nearly incoherent at times. When Gore mentioned "tax breaks for the rich" about nine times, W should have attacked him for division and class warfare. He didn't. Get ready for 50% tax rates folks. The election is over.

I remember it well. Word spread that people were put off by Gore's bizarre behaviour (especially the sighing). The buzz just kept growing, then they did a skit about the sighing on Saturday Night Live. Gore's fate was sealed.
What's so funny is that most of the people on that thread saying "I wish I didn't have to say this blah blah blah, but Bush is getting his butt kicked" never supported Bush in the first place.
Just like last night.
Waaaaahhhh! You pinged me to a flashback from BEFORE I joined FR, and that makes me SAD. I can't even IMAGINE life w/out FR now....What did I ever do before it? I know where I was this night, though...I was hanging out over at the MSNBC bulletin boards (don't exist anymore) FIGHTING with liberals!!!
I feel like I was here after going through last night's thread. LOL
Moby, if you're reading this, you gave it your best shot. You lost.

Hate to say it, but I think the polls are all going to show Gore winning this. Although he frankly looks like he spent some serious time with the bong before coming out, Bush has simply looked tense and nervous too much of the time, although I think he's relaxed a bit toward the end.
What's aggravated me the most is that Bush has had golden opportunities handed to him on a silver platter, which he's let go right by him. When Gore mentioned his support of the Gulf War, I was desperately hoping he'd mention Gore's selling of his vote, but no such luck. Also, when Gore talked about how vouchers would take funds away from schools that needed to spend the money on facilities to relieve overcrowding, why the hell didn't he point out that there'd be no overcrowding if a bunch of the students were transferring to private schools? And wouldn't it have been nice, when Gore spoke of going to Vietnam to spare someone else from going in his place, if Bush had said "It was very noble of you to spare someone from facing a typewriter in your place."
Not a good night for us, I fear.

There sure were; and it was SO slow, I couldn't click on them to see "who" they were. I went back later when things picked up and we were right -- lots and lots of sleepers and people who don't support Bush anyway.
Unfortunately, some of them are "ours," if you will.
The really bad thing is that "newbies" don't know them -- and they don't know how that "scare the forum" thing works when they put their mind to it, because they've never seen that before, or been here for the "big knockdown dragout" primary fights.
I miss bigsigh.
We know him, and it's unnerving when some funky orangutan from someplace up east shakes him up with incredible lies.
I feel better today about the debate.
Thanks. I'd forgotten about that.
I wonder what the buzz was from yesterday? Anyone checked out the late night comedians? That might be a tipoff.
It must have been a blow to the Gore campaign, thinking they had won big but found out within a week they had lost the debate in terms of voter perception.
Thant was the exact same thing I kept yelling at my computer screen last night. They never liked Bush in the 1st place and they were on the live thread immediatly talking down Bush's performance!
My guess is, just like last night, in 2000 there were a lot of posters who were for Bush before they voted against him!
And wouldn't it have been nice, when Gore spoke of going to Vietnam to spare someone else from going in his place, if Bush had said "It was very noble of you to spare someone from facing a typewriter in your place."
People who post stuff like that don't know a damn thing about George W. Bush; he would NEVER say anything close to that.
Those are people who project what THEY would do or say onto Bush -- and then get furious when he doesn't do or say what they WILLED him to do or say.
You are a very wise person. Thank you.
Nobody felt GOOD about it last night......and I'm still shaking my head at some of the stuff, but I, too, feel pretty good about it.
Isn't it odd that on the Gore debate thread we were talking about makeup and teeth......the Dems always put up the vainest candidates, don't they?
When I give up on a live thread, you know it's bad......LOL.
We have no lives.
I will say this: after last night, I want Cheney to b*t*hs**p John Edwards on Tuesday night. I'm talking sneers and mocking.
This place is being overrun with Moby types.. Pitchforkers.. as well as your garden variety Chicken Littles.
It is getting tiresome.
I'm not suggesting we go the route of DU, where they immediately ban anyone who voices even an ounce of dissent, but perhaps put a lock on new signups?
You think that will win over swing voters?
