Okay, well, I know you can't... neither can I... but what *does* set the bounds? What sets the bounds for *any* orthodoxy??

Inquiring minds want to know... I mean, the Republican Party here where I live threw me out because I wouldn't run for "Precinct Committeeperson" because I told them I absolutely, categorically would never campaign for a Republican who was anti-firearms, and that moreover I would be perfectly willing to campaign for a pro-gun Democrat running against an anti-gun Republican. I was immediately branded a heretic and an agent of Satan, and barely made it out the door of the church ahead of the guys in the pointed black hats with the flaming torches.

So now I'm curious - is it OK to stay on this forum if I like South Park...??? But, even in the absence of a specific answer to *that* question, you see, it goes back to the larger issue - how does one determine in advance what is acceptable within a given orthodoxy, and what constitutes Thoughtcrime?

Your example bears examination, too... I think all of the examples you cite are leftists. The creators of South Park are not, despite their "Bad Taste". Now, while I think leftists should be hung from lampposts, it's not because of their common habit of being offensive or tasteless... that, in and of itself, seems at most secondary and least possibly irrelevant to me...

Yes, but they are equal-opportunity satirists.

Let me answer you with another question. Do you consider Jon Stewart (The Daily Show) to be an equal opportunity satirist?

Let me get this straight. On one hand you're bemoan the general lack of manners and morality while on the other hand you send private messages so rude, that they are considered unsuitable for public consumption by the moderators when posted to the public forum. Please remove the glulam beam from your orbital socket. Thank you.

Like I needed it. Thanks for the patronage though. You make humor... yet do not appreciate it.

I guess it's as well though. You use a computer, yet seem to hate the way people these days entertain and philosophize.

Nothing wrong with a little Pompousness to let others know they are living the wrong way, eh?

I love stuff like this... I must be an anarchist, not a conservative, because I just LOVE these "meetings of the minds" where the gulf is so wide that nobody can find common ground and the debate deteriorates into an argument

A little Clintonian triangulation. Nicely done... well, you want a meeting of the minds in a debate. Although, I can't speak for others who start threads like this for their own reasons but here is my endeavor nonetheless.

First of all, South Park is vulgar and nobody denies that. But so what !!!! Hearing the F word isn’t going to kill me anymore than the 2 million times I say it on a daily. And watching “family-oriented” shows like Full House or Step by Step just doesn’t do it for most in my age group. The show’s success is based on not only it’s humor but it’s constant swipe at PC society

Now, to the point at hand. Let’s review point by point every political episode from South Park and the right of center stance Trey & Matt have taken over the show’s entire run. (Not that it will do any good for O.C.)

We can start at the basics of South Park like having Saddam Hussein as Satan’s gay lover or the constant ripping of those “no-good gay hippies”. But here is each individual episode that deals in political issues.

Episode 109 “Starvin Marvin”

Sally Struthers is portrayed as hugely fat hypocrite who is caught eating the food donated to the starving Africans

Episode 112 “Mecha Streisand” -

The boys battle uber liberal Babs Streisand who is portrayed as an evil siren who wants to run the world

Episode 113 “Cartman’s Mom”

Cartman’s mom sleeps with Clinton so he will legalize 40th trimester abortions Planned Parenthood is called “Unplanned Parenthood"

Episode 301 “Rainforest Shmainforest”

Pretty much self-explanatory. Whatever could be said to rip enviro-libs and the Save the Rainforest cause Trey & Matt have said it. On the South Park Season 3 DVD, Trey admitted as much he hates the rainforest and all those who try to save it.

Episode 302 “Spontaneous Combustion”

Trey & Matt lampoon Whoopi over her lame anti-Republican jokes at the Oscars.

Episode 306 “Sexual Harassment Panda”

Kyle’s dad calls liberals “fascists” who pass laws to get people to do what THEY want with of course the mocking of feminist sexual harassment laws.

Episode 308 Part 2 of the Meteor Trilogy “Two Guys in a Hot Tub”

This episode is about the ATF and the screw up at Waco. On the DVD, Trey & Matt talk about the disaster at Waco.

Episode 314 “The Red Badge of Gayness” b.k.a. the General Cartman Lee episode

In this one, Clinton is portrayed as a flip-flopper and the boys call him a d**k at the end.

Episode 401 “Cartman’s Silly Hate Crime”

Episode makes fun of hate crime laws.

Episode 413 “Trapper Keeper”

In one of the most overtly Republican episodes, Trey & Matt rip Rosie O’Donnell to shreds and mock Algore’s cries for a recount by portraying his side as crying kindergarteners who call in lawyers and lib celebrities to help in their cause

Episode 505 “Terrance & Phillip: Behind the Blow”

Another overtly GOP episode. This one has the organizers of Earth Day as brain washing villains in the annual “Earth Day Brainwashing Festival”

Episode 507 “Proper Condom Use”

Makes fun of libs sex ed programs with younger and younger kids

Episode 509 “Osama bin Laden has farty pants”

Another self-explanatory episode

Episode 512 “Here Comes the Neighborhood”

In this one, Trey & Matt compares class warfare arguments (a DemonRat stable) to racism. The poor people of South Park try to rid their city of “richers”. A complete rip on the liberals

Episode 605 “Fun with Veal”

In this one, animal rights activists are called “gay wad hippies” and the show’s conclusion was “If you don’t eat meat, you’ll turn into a giant p***y”. Not exactly middle-of-the road.

Episode 612 “A Ladder to Heaven”

Cartman states, “I have to find a place where they remove living souls”. He goes to Unplanned Parenthood. Saddam Hussein is making WMD’s in Heaven and fools everybody but Bush. And anti-war activists (which Trey & Matt are especially cruel to over the years) are labeled “wimpy, tree-hugging p***ies”

Episode 614 “The Death Camp of Tolerance”

The boys are sent to Tolerance Camp run by Multicultural Nazi’s who beat tolerance into the boys. Making fun of multi-culturalism. Sounds pretty much on the right to me.

Episode 616 “My Future Self & Me”

The boss at Motivation Corp. tells a couple, “We ultra-liberals believe it is okay to lie to get the message out…..”

Episode 702 “Krazy Kripples”

Christopher Reeve needs stem-cells to gain evil powers. Reeve sucks the dead fetus of it’s organs like an olive.

Most of this stuff can be heard straight from Trey & Matt’s mouth on the DVD commentary. But there you have it. And of course they rip on the right but mostly over religious issues but if your not a Holy Roller a bad Republican it does not make. I am as conservative as all what but I’m not religious in the same tone as others. As a side-note, Trey & Matt announced at a small awards dinner after the South Park movie came out that -yes- they are Republicans.

But like I said this is all for naught when it comes to convincing someone who completely misrepresents the show for his own purposes and who has made it his mission on this forum.

I can't offer an informed opinion on that query. I don't regularly watch that show. Most of what I've heard about The Daily Show comes from folks who can't stand it. I catch a few minutes here and there when channel surfing, but when the Bush-bashing starts I am outta there.

They totally shredded Streisand in that one - one of our favorites. It was hilarious as is their Blame Canada song...

should we blame the government or blame society?
or should we blame the images on tv?
NO! blame canada, blame canada
with all their beady little eyes
an' flapping heads so full of lies
blame canada, blame canada
we need to form a full assault, its canada's fault...

Hey, maybe Matt and Trey could write a new song and call it Blame Bush! :)LS

Precisely, Jon Stewart is as far left as Bill Maher (Politically Incorrect) and yet he referred to Stone and Parker as geniuses on Leno's show the other night. Funny that, huh? You think maybe Parker's and Stone's little joke is on all of you who support them? LOL!

Look at what I have stated. Debating this man is pointless I've just laid out 7 years worth of facts and O.C. still rattles onward.

By the way, would Stewart's comments have anything to do with them all working for Comedy Central? And you mentioned Maher. He is friends with Ann Coulter...Is she fooling us?
I'll give you this you're right about one thing

You still don't get it. The majority of these folks are entertainers. I'll take your word that Coulter and Maher are friends, because it doesn't matter. 'Conservative' talking heads like Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity say what you want to hear and then, like Hannity, go off to meet Lanny Davis for drinks after the show. I don't put any faith in what these folks say.

Good grief, boy! Many on the right have hailed Roger Ailes as a friend to conservatism in America. Poppycock! He's interested in promoting his projects, and right now his main project is FoxNews. Sumner Redstone came out in support of Dubya the other day. Why? Because it doesn't cost him anything and because it takes the focus off his consistent past support of the Left.

I'll tell you who to pay attention to. President Bush. He has conviction, something he didn't learn from his old man. Bush Sr. taught Dubya how to run a business and think politically, but the real center to Dubya is found in the heart of his heavenly Father. Conservatives don't like to talk too much about that, but that's why this election is so crucial. The Left is always harping about Dubya's 'religiosity'. Ron Reagan Jr. couldn't resist using his dad's funeral as an excuse to attack the president for wearing his religion on his sleeve. I could go on, but I'm sure I've already lost you.

Oh no, you think Stone and Parker are pulling a 'rope-a-dope'??? I'll wait for the reviews before seeing the movie. From what I've seen and heard about this flick I think I'll like it. Could be that they are just out to make light of the WOT. It is hard to imagine anything pro-WOT coming out of Hollyweird.

I understand they mock the Left, but they are careful who they pick on and to what extent. Do you remember the sitcom, 'That's My Bush'? How was the Bush family portrayed? Dubya was portrayed as an idiot and the twins were homosexuals involved in incest. How did Stone and Parker take on the Clinton gang? With similar subtlety, no doubt. Right.

OC, at least know what you are talking about before you start spouting off.

The show "Thats My Bush" existed because Bush won. Had Gore won, the show would have been about Al Gore and his family. The contract for the show was written prior to the election and stipulated that the show would be based on the winner.

Stone and Parker in numerous interviews said that personally they wanted Bush to win, but for the success of the show they wanted Gore to win as it would be a better show.
