But my point was .. the Dems claim Saddam was not a threat .. that he didn't have nuclear material (Joe Wilson) .. He didn't have any kind of WMD and he wasn't a threat

There was another interesting factor at work in that case, too.

The organizers of that Congressional hearing made one huge mistake that came back to haunt them later . . . They positioned the television cameras recording the testimony on the floor in front of the witnesses, pointing up into their faces. As a result, people like Oliver North and Admiral Poindexter came across as authoritative, powerful, and forceful in their testimony.

As far as I know, this was the last time that happened. The next major televised hearings (if I remember correctly) were the Robert Bork confirmation hearings, and for those hearings the Democrats who controlled the Senate made sure the cameras were positioned off to one side and above the key witness -- with lots of bright lights shining in his face to make him look like a prisoner undergoing a rigorous session in a police station.

I remember it well. The dims thought they had a prearranged massacre, just waiting to happen. They had visions of holding the House and Senate for fifty years. To sum up your friends erudite remark, they got the "Magnetic North" instead.

Question, my friend...been away from FR for a few days...was it discuessed here that possible W was just "off" a tad?..re the "tired" look...he's up at 5..puts in a huge day, and is usually in bed by 10PM. maybe her should just take a nap in the afternoon the next time..also, it's very drainign emotionally, and thus tiring, to spend all that time witht the Floridians who were devestated by Jeanne..

Kerry has no core, and tries to script himself. Well, he scripted himself last night, all right. But he was not convincing, and his statements last night will be taken in context of his other positions.
