Great point!!
Good point! Honestly I wish Bush had done a little better on "style." But people know Bush is the man, and they will stick by him.
SUBSTANCE!
Kind of shame because I think Bush could have put him away with a stronger performance, but I don't think this will move the main numbers.
the election is not about electing a champion debater...
W's body language was awful. Stand up straight, George ! Ask if we need France and Germany's permission to defend ourselves.
I generally agree, although we can't take anything for granted.
I can't imagine Kerry being Presidendt and Bush being out of office. We all have to work hard.
Kerry is a smooth talker and can fool idiots. If you listen to what he says, "global test" and "I've never waivered" he proves himself to be just another liberal liar with a tendancy to subordinate America's interests for perceived "global" consensus. His performance did nothing to make me believe that he wouldn't continue to backstab American military forces like he did in 1971 and in his 20 years of antimilitary votes in the senate.
It appears to me that if Kerry was going to move voters it would be evident immediately. That fact that he didn't is good. The more time people take to think the better for Bush IMHO.
No doubt about it, he was off his game. I suppose actually RUNNING THE COUNTRY is harder than just taking pot-shots like Kerry does.
But again in the whole scheme of things it's very insignificant.
Carville is probably wondering what group of idiots nominated such a loser.
I'm frankly getting a bit upset with people that want a stylistic victory. That isn't going to win this election and these initial numbers seem to indicate that.
Bush won substance and Kerry is going to be pounded.
I couldn't agree with you more. But I fear there are a lot of idiots out there!
No matter. Bush is staying on message, and that means a lot. I just can't imagine large numbers of people pulling the lever for Kerry, based just on one "performance."
I agree with you. By Monday we may see a completely different take on who "won" the debate.
I will say though that if the election next month were for "used car salesman of the year" Kerry would win hands down.
Bush may have lost this debate, (he came off cocky, smirking, he was leaning against the lecturn, and basicly looked like crap, IMHO), BUT he deffinately gained more simply because Kerry is FINALLY nailed down on his "beliefs", and the term "GLOBAL TEST" is gold for us.
People reading these polls have got to remember that many people who thought Kerry won the debate are hardcore Bush supporter more susceptible to feeling angst, all you have to do is read the live thread from last night to know that. The real victory will be the campaign ads coming out how Kerry had a chance to clarify but once again but failed oce again.
Here's a question Bush should ask Kerry.
"Mr Kerry, How many phone calls need to be made before I defend America?
