Do I detect a faint and distant smell of power grabbing and central planning in the breeze, when I read this write-up and observe this conference?

The MSM is pissed that they no longer control the pablum that we were force fed by them. Taking all their $hit as gospel. They are pure and simple...whiners.

"while journalism operates on a spectrum that starts with "just the facts." Since when?

"power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts
absolutely"
The leftie media had absolutely power and they took its natural course... we're just the flashlight that suddenly revealed the seething mass of cockroaches knee-deep in the previously "gate-keeped" kitchen.

In blogging, that usually comes with a dash of opinion and a smidgeon of attitude while journalism operates on a spectrum that starts with "just the facts." I am positive you MUST be able to hear me laughing all the way up there!

Do you get the impression that they are trying to get out in front of this "parade" and define, i.e. limit, us?

Journalists are like any other employee trying to fit in with their corporate culture. They can no more go against the grain than a corporate employee can buck the culture in his/her office environment. Therefore, the journalist hoping to move up within the MSM culture will trend left, will begin to despise the conservative mindset, will feel part of the elite as opposed to the masses (the rest of us) who need to be told what to think.

How exactly was this famed opinion poll phrased: "Do you believe that Dan Rather was duped and committed an honest mistake" -- or, "Do you believe that Dan Rather conspired to push a manufactured story based on documents he knew to be false, in order to adversely effect George Bush's reelection?"

The waning power of the Old Media began when they started calling themselves JOURNALISTS instead of Reporters IMO and began inserting themselves and their agendas into the news reported.
Now, they even interview each other as to how they "feel" about events.

I send an email at least 4 times a week to CBS, sometimes I forward a news piece about something that is TRUE with a note telling them I found something TRUE to print.
KEEP UP THE HEAT !!!!!!!!!

I don't worry about no stinkin' tension!
The "News Media" can shove it!
I'll go with the bloggers every time.
When those wankers decided to move from reporting the news (a low IQ activity requiring nothing besides literacy) to being the news (requiring nothing but megalomania, not even low IQ) I bailed. If they disappeared in the next 30 minutes I would never miss them.
So what's the problem with tension?

Journalists are paid liars. Remember yellow dog journalists for the turn of the century. They have been making it up for ever.
The left leaning tower of MSM has fallen down and can't get up.

That sound that you hear is the sound of elites having power ripped from their hands.
Information is power. Where have you heard that before.
Back in the day when they had absolute control over the information they pumped heads full of propaganda and no one knew the difference.
The old leftist whore Cronkite and the Rathers of the world decided to end the war in Vietnam by broadcasting the defeat of the US even though it wasn't reality.
They have attempted to do the Nixon on President Bush and do a Vietnam do over on Iraq. They howl because it doesn't work.

Why is the Bush campaign allowing CBS's Bob Schieffer to moderate one of the debates? They do not deserve this kind of legitimacy.

Notice that still, this author reflects the attitude that speaking out about facts should somehow depend upon an elite class, the urinalists.
We, who can observe and comment as part of our natural inherent rights with which we were endowed by our Creator, are actually not supposed to have a right, in the Hohfeldian sense, but only a possible privilege, which we "must not abuse" in the eyes of the ruling elite.
That individuals such as this are a big joke inside a bubble can be made evident by a single test: what would come out as the facts in an actual trial? So here the assertions as to the date of the invention of the font in question, the superscript capability, and so forth, are used to show that we are "not to be trusted," even though this author acknowledges that the likelihood, under the actual facts of the case, that this was not a crude forgery, is zero. Thus we are discredited by a member of the chattering classes because we got to the truth swiftly, and did not show the requisite willingness to ignore common sense and pee on it in order to demonstrate our "superiority."

The MSM has been DOA for a while it's just that the older patriots of the MSM are just now killing over. It's more like, they've been dead for a while but don't realize it. Sort of like what they say about snakes in the South... "you can cut their head off, and they'll wriggle till sundown".
(By the way, MSM droids... there's no "Tension" over here - are YOU perchance the only ones feeling "Tense"?
