Appreciate the quote commish. Boy am I getting old - it just dawned on me that my son's 17. Maybe I need more coffee, yea, that's the ticket. ;-)
From Jr's website..........
Monday, October 4: I can't believe we've won our fifth race, but there's still a long way to go in the Chase. I'm really excited about the points lead, but there's a lot of racing left. I want to apologize for my post race comments using curse words. It was all in the excitement of winning. I just couldn't believe we came from 11th to win with those last few laps to go. I was excited and I hope NASCAR will view this one differently from those guys that got fined and docked points while cursing in anger. It was a slip of the tongue and I apologize to anyone that was offended. We've got ourselves in a pressure cooker here with this Chase and the emotions are going to fly. I guess we will wait and see what judgement is handed down from NASCAR. We will celebrate our win regardless of the outcome and go on to Kansas for the hunt to the Chase.
Thrilling a crowd of about 150,000 mostly clad in red and raucously cheering Earnhardt's every move, the No. 8 Chevrolet led a race-high 78 laps on its way to a 0.117-second win over Kevin Harvick and Dale Jarrett.
After nearly writing off his own title hopes following a summer slump that coincided with the burns he sustained in a sports-car crash, Earnhardt has become NASCAR's hottest driver. He has reeled off six top-10s in eight races and three straight since the Chase for the Nextel Cup began.
The 14th victory of his career and personal-best fifth of the season lifted him into the lead by 13 points over Kurt Busch and 61 over Jeff Gordon with seven races left. The other seven eligible drivers are more than 100 points behind.
Few discouraging words were uttered yesterday in reference to Earnhardt, whom Harvick said "could go when he wanted to."
"He has a fast race car," Jarrett said. "I'm not sure he gets enough credit for being able to drive it. He does a hell of a job.
Said Busch, who remained second in the points with a fifth-place finish: "Dale Jr.'s the heat here, man. He was leading us around like little ducklings."
We just smoked those guys on old tires," he said.
"This is my place. Talladega, baby!"
Gotta love that boy!!!!!!!
That race from 10th to 1st was spectacular...........He is the champion in my book.
BTW.....I haven't commented on the language thing up to this point, but I just want to say that someone on another board started watching a show on ABC tonight...and it had a ton of questionable language in it (a**, pen**, etc.). This was in prime time....I think it was called "Desperate Housewives", did anyone else see it? So what big deal is sh**, if these other words can be condoned as okay?
What would your father think about the Chase for the Nextel Cup?
That would be hard to answer. I don't know. It's hard to say. I'd like to know myself to see what he'd say. I don't think he'd be all for it though.
Sadler says he doesn't like running at Dega.......(I'll bet he likes it even less now)
Ping
Cue the ducklings!!!!!
lol
