Much like the first debate in '84 was not good for Reagan, but did not change a lot of minds, it looks as if tonight will not shift too many votes away from GWB though his performance was not great. I was surprised at Bill Schneider's numbers, but very pleased that despite Kerry's perceived "victory" tonight, a majority of those who say he did well still trust Mr Bush more on the Iraq issue.
The Global Test phrase will come to haunt Kerry. I think Cheney will annilhate Edwards when they debate and actually increase Bush's lead in the foreign policy arena.
Maybe Republicans are yet again self-flagellating, because the poll obviously shows that a majority believes that Bush lost, yet Kerry lost ground on the TOPIC of the debate!! Bush obviously won among some undecideds and that Republicans are beating up their candidate as usual. Odd.

Really? Let me guess- they were Anti-Bush?
i was rethinking my pessimism from tonight's debate... i realized that even if i thought Kerry won the debate, i'm not voting for him... there's got to be others like me... i was down on Dubya' because i wanted to much for him to knock it out of the park...
Like Reagan, Bush tends to be a slow starter. Reagan didn't do too well in that first debate with Mondale, but in the second debate he shined, with the classic line "I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience." SLAM DUNK! And we all know how that election turned out!
