RasterMaster,
I can't refute your observations as my comments were based on what I heard on the radio, not TV. I hope your right that Kerry's activities at the podium distracted people from the BS coming speying out of his pie-hole. However, when listening on the radio, Bush seemed to stammer and hesistate like I've never heard before. He needs to be better prepared and take the offense in D2.
Best.

I also was listening rather than watching the debate at the beginning and finally sat down and watched. That made all the difference in my perception of what was going on. Kerry was smooth and said nothing new. He couldn't help but allude to his Viet Nam service three or four times and continued to say that he would do a better job in Iraq than Bush has done. President Bush was trying to deal with what Kerry was saying which took thoughtfulness because it was so out of sync with either reality or truth. I wanted him to attack but that was not in the rules. The one, rather obscured, point that Pres Bush made was slipped in at the end when he said the war will continue to be fought by a VOLUNTEER military. Just that one little sentence put the lie to the RAT claim that a draft is imminent. I hope the Republicans use this against the CBS newest bogus claim that a draft is in the works.
