Lapham is archetpal NYC liberal and an angry and unhappy man at that. I used to read him years ago until I realized that he makes money off ennui or boredom or angst.
The reason I brought his name up was because he got caught critiquing the Republican Convention for an article in the Atlantic Monthly before the convention had even started!
