Twenty-year-old Jeremy Tor, a junior at the University of Arizona, got the scare of his life recently — an e-mail that told him if George Bush is re-elected, he will reinstate the military draft. "I thought, this is incredible. You know, to suggest that a draft is going to be instituted, harkening back to the days of Vietnam, is a scary, scary thought," he says. Wednesday, Vice President Dick Cheney strongly denied it. "The notion that somebody's peddling out there that there is a secret plan to reinstitute the draft — it's hogwash, not true," Cheney said on the campaign trail.

All the histerical yellin and screaming the RATS are doing about Iraq is costing more lives every day. It's playing right into the hands of the terrorists in Iraq....'the more pain we can inflict on the Iraqis, coalition and US personnel in Iraq, the more ammo we can provide for them' - this is the same these scum RATS and Kerry did during the Vietnam War , AS IT WAS WINDING DOWN mind you, thereby giving the enemy more 'fight and support' to keep on killing American troops.

It's hard for me to judge whether these bogus draft rumors are being taken seriously by young people -- the only young people I see aren't worried about it because they're in my reserve unit.
I'll find out starting next week.
There actually is a move in congress to reinstate the draft. It is being spearheaded by Representative Charlie Wrangle, and Senator Fritz Hollings....both DEMOCRATS! And John Kerry said he was in favor of mandatory national military service for all citizens between the ages of 18 and 26. And then when he became the democratic nominee, he said he opposed reinstating the draft. Old flip flopper at it again.
I know what you're saying. But I'm not sure it's right to say, "there is a move in Congress to reinstate the draft." There have been two bills put into committee, but they're not "moving" anywhere at all. No hearing or other action is scheduled and none is going to be scheduled on either bill. They aren't attracting support. They are dead, not "moving."

Despite his smart a** remark, he did come home and ask me if it was true. This was a World History class with freshman through seniors in the class, so I am sure there were 17-18 year old kids scared also. I explained the truth, and told him to make sure he told his friends, I also had him take in a newspaper article to give to his liberal teacher explaining the hoax (not that I expect that to help). I also called and spoke to the principal (I wouldn't leave my name because I did not want my son involved), and told him that he had better speak with this teacher, and though this time I was keeping quiet, if it happened again the town (a small conservative town) would know via letters to the editors, and an appearance at the school board meeting. He sounded disgusted with the teacher and assured me that it would not happen again. As of today we have gone almost two weeks without any liberal propaganda in the class (I ask every night).
Great reply from your son -- he sounds like a great kid! I'd be proud to have a young person with such spirit in my unit some day.
Hopefully this whole phony draft issue will be a good lesson for young people. In the future, hopefully they'll have a better shot a recognizing political propaganda, and resisting those who peddle fear.
I agree with you completely. I cannot believe the things that they will do including denigrating our soldiers and tearing down their own country. Scum of the earth.
