Michels Campaign: New Michels Television Ad Questions Russ Feingold’s Priorities

(Waukesha) Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Michels today unveiled a new 30-second television ad that raises questions about Russ Feingold’s commitment to issues that are critically important to Wisconsin citizens.

“Unlike Russ Feingold, who has spent much of his time in Washington on campaign finance reform, I will focus my time on important issues like creating jobs, keeping our country safe and making health care affordable for all citizens,” Michels said.

Consider:

On jobs, Russ Feingold stood by as the state lost more than 80,000 manufacturing jobs.

Russ Feingold voted against tax cuts that have spurred the beginning of an economic recovery. He voted for tax increases 245 times..

Russ Feingold’s solution to our health care crisis is a creative new name for nationalized, socialized health care. He wants a government-run health care plan. But what’s worse, he doesn’t even propose a specific solution. He tells others they have to come up with a new plan – next year. (“Feingold Proposal for State-Based Health Care Reform”, www.russfeingold.org)

A Lexus/Nexus search reveals that, from 1993 to 2004, Feingold’s name and campaign finance reform were mentioned together more than 18,186 times. From 1992 to 2004, Feingold’s name and re-importation (of prescription drugs) were mentioned together only 30 times.

“I will be a leader in the U.S. Senate who takes on the tough issues, focuses on rebuilding our economy, supports winning the war on terrorism and works toward positive solutions to affordable health care,” Michels said.

The “Classroom” spot, scheduled to run in every major media market in Wisconsin, can be viewed at www.michelsforsenate.com

Playground: Campaign Finance Reform
Man going down slide
Teacher knocks on window “Russell!”

Tim Michels leaning on tree “I’m Tim Michels and I approved this ad because we need a senator who will focus on jobs, affordable health care and keeping this country safe from terrorism.”

Gotta love this ad! Really exposes Feingold's playing hookie when it comes to doing anything for Wisconsin as a Senator (jobs) while being "out there" on socialized health care (but never announcing any plan), campaign finance reform (disaster) and terrorism (only Senator to vote against the Patriot Act).

Hanging around with John McCain should get anybody in trouble. Although McCain is more a democrat than some democrats.(Zell Miller)

Russ Feingold is a Stalinist-type communist.

He wants to silence political free speech, and wants to tax us to death so that "everyone" can get "health care", etc.

He has to rank highly on any Patriot's "enemies list".

Completely agree. The fascinating thing about this US Senate race is the ideological contrasts between these two men. As far as political contests go, neither man engenders repulsion as a phony ala Jean Querry. Sure, Feingold is repugnant to everything conservatives hold dear, but he's held his seat because he's been able to sell himself in the past as a maverick fighting for constituents. Michels is exposing that snake oil for what it is, and he's best able to do it because he too isn't considered a phony but rather a mainstream conservative who cares more about Wisconsin than Feingold.

I can't stand Feingold and I voted for Michels over Welch and Darrow, but this guy needs to work his strengths, Military and real life experience vs. life long politician.

The average person hates politicians more than anything else, if Michels takes the 2 term pledge and beats up on Russ as a life long out of touch politician He will win.

Come On Tim hit the right buttons, Terrorism, the Military, Taxes, Life Long Politicians. These will win this baby.

If Bush Wins Wisconsin and you lose it You should take Admiral Bourda's out.

I think you are being way too hard on Tim.

We have a lot of Dem vote fraud and knee-jerk Dem voters in Milwaukee and Madison to contend with. The RNC is, for once, supporting the GOP candidate w/money and staff. The Michels campaign is doing everything right, AFAIK. There are organizations in every region and the county GOPs, even the dysfunctional ones, appear to be working hard for him.

Many Dems will vote for W on security, but they are used to voting for Finegold. Even if his name has been mentioned over 18k times in relation to CFR, I have noticed that on TV, Finegold is getting a pass and is not being mentioned as often as McCain is.

We have a good chance this time and we are working hard, but the machine behind Finegold and his seemingly clean personal resume makes him, as an incumbent, difficult to beat in his chosen constituencies. He is MIA out here in the SW boonies, but I still see a few signs for him. Yesterday, there were *suddenly* more 4'x8' Finegold signs set up obviously by the party, not by individuals. The Michels signs are mostly in front yards.
