Noooooooooooooooooooo...Ike didn't "steal" the nomination from Taft and no matter how many times you so stubbornly keep repeating that,it just won't make it so.

Ike was a write in candidate in NH and by-passed the normal procedures of being nominated.

The Conservative wing of the GOP, which was the dominant part of the Party would have likely rejected him had he gone through the normal nominating process.

Yes,the GOP is considered to be the more conservative of the two major parties;however, that does NOT make the GOP THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY,where moderates and Conservative, but not as Conservative as YOU want them to be,aren't also members in good standing.

I never said the Party would be as conservative as I would like it to be, but it should at least be guided by certain fundamental conservative principles (smaller gov't, individual responsibilty, U.S. sovereignity etc).

Maybe it would be a good idea to ease back on the caffine?

In those days, the political candidate was actually chosen AT THE CONVENTION. Ergo, Ike stole NOTHING,the powers that be,withing the GOP wanted Ike to be the candidate,And again,NO,IKE DID NOT "STEAL" THE NOMINATION.

Thomas Dewey was a Conservative?

The Conservative wing of the GOP "was the dominant part of the Party"? IN THE 1940s and 1950s? SINCE WHEN ? According to WHOM...you?

I don't drink anything containing caffeine and perhaps before you keep looking for that mote in my eye,you sholuld remove that forest of trees from your own! And factual,non-revisionist history is your friend....LEARN SOME! ;^)
