I can't think of an installed "islamic republic" that has been overthrown.

Can't think of any "people's revolution, except 1979 Iran.

Anybody else can help?

I'm no historian, so I'm probably wrong but... the Bolslevik revolution in Russia in the early 1900's was a populist movement against the Tzar, and I believe the current Communist regime in China started as a populist movement as well.

But like I said, I could be wrong.
